Pigeonroof Studio Mini Skeins

A perfectly sized mini treat for you to end the year with! Arriving just this week are the delightful mini skein sets from Pigeonroof Studios – ideal for last minute small projects and to fill that final gap in your stocking!

Pigeonroof Studio Sets in Pistachio and Sahara Desert with Tosh Sock in Twig

Six gorgeous skeins are included in each set, changing over a beautiful gradient of one colour. These adorably tiny skeins are made from Pigeonroof Studios High Twist sock, a glossy, soft, superwash merino. This 4ply yarn is perfectly paired with the Madelinetosh Sock as above, but we can also imagine it being best friends with The Uncommon Thread Tough Sock and Quince & Co. Finch.

Each hand-dyed colour changes from soft pastels to intense saturated hues, so there really is a colour for everyone (ok…maybe more than one for some of us!)

We’ve chosen the sets of Pistachio and Sahara Desert along with Madelinetosh Sock in Twig (shown in the first image) to knit the beautiful textured crescent shawl Rosabee by Amanda Rios. The pattern is available via Ravelry now, but we will have printed copies to purchase in the new year.

We’re also planning more new year shawls with the perfect colour accents, like Moonraker and Glacerie, but at the moment we’re whipping up a pair of Gradient Mitts by Krista McCurdy. A free pattern available via Ravelry, it is a great simple fingerless mitt pattern that could be knit over a weekend for a lucky recipient.

Designed by Ms. Pigeonroof herself, she really knows how to show off the colour of these sets with a clever method of holding the yarn doubled. Once the first band of solid colour has been worked, one strand is dropped and then a strand of the next darker shade introduced.

And did we mention how cute the skeins look when wound!?

Mini Skeins are also great to finish crochet edges on blankets or shawls and ideal for colourwork mittens and hats. Or what about some hexipuffs for the Bee Keepers Quilt, or a classic granny square blanket? These skeins were made for subtle stash supplementation to ensure the perfect graduated tone to a project.

These are so lovely! I’d love to see the colours in person. I have a class at Loop on 10th Jan – do you anticipate being all out by then?.
