We have a beautiful new hand-dyed, natural yarn to show you this week! Moel View Yarn is dyed by Paula Goosen in Wales using all natural dye stuffs on wool and silk bases. We carry two beautiful bases by Moel View: Bliss and British DK.

Paula dyes all her yarn from her home studio in Wales. She originally hales from Cape Town, South Africa but moved, with her family, from England to Wales, 3 years ago.
“Behind us is Moel y Gaer, which is an Iron Age Hillfort. We overlook Moel Famau – the tallest peak of the Clwydian Range. It has always been a familiar landmark here as well as a popular place for families and friends to walk its gentle slopes and picnic in the cool forests. The name Moel View Yarn seemed natural and almost, unavoidable.

“Here, it is beautiful and dramatic and utterly breathtaking in every season.”

Paula takes breathtaking photos of her home and yarn; she’s worth checking out on Instagram.
I’ve always been creative, that’s why I love knitting, drawing and baking. You could say it’s inherited; I come from a long line of artists, sewers and knitters.
As a young mother, these aspects of my life took a back seat, as I tended to my 3 very small children. But after moving to Wales it was impossible to resist the NEED to be creative in a really interactive way. Natural Dyeing had been on my radar for a year or two, and it finally seemed the right time to combine my great loves – nature, colour and yarn!

We carry two Moel View base yarns Bliss and British DK.
Bliss is a light fingering-weight yarn sold in 100g skeins of approximately 495m/541yards. It is 50% fine merino and 50% mulberry silk. The silk takes colour beautifully and makes for great drape; perfect for shawl knitting.
We carry eighteen colours; subtle and beautiful every one.
Moel View British DK is a delicious blend of 75% Bluefaced Leicester and 25% Masham fleece, making a 100% British yarn that is incredibly soft, with an unrivalled depth of tone. This base has been specially created for Loop.
British DK comes in 100g skeins with approximately 240m/262 yards. Great for texture & cables, this wool has the charm of Aran without the scratchy texture.
