This week we are celebrating the recent release of two beautiful new shawl designs from Lori Versaci, of Versaci Knits.
Both these lovely new designs use the Qing Fibre Super Soft DK, which is one of our very favourite yarns. We have a wonderful giveaway running this week, with the opportunity to win three skeins of the Super Soft DK from Qing, as well as a pattern from Lori. Read on to find out more!
Lori has been a Loop fan for many years, and she has now added a bundle on Ravelry of “Loop Inspired Designs” and is offering 20% off on Ravelry for purchases of those patterns with coupon code ILOVELOOP until May 10th! How lovely!
The Qing Fibre yarn is a super squishy blend of 80% Merino, 10% Cashmere and 10% Nylon; it wears well and is a dream to knit with.
Layla and the team at Qing Fibre have developed a truly wonderful colour palette, with so many different special colours.
The palette we have, as we stock so many different colours in this base, has the possibility to create an item that is very bright with lots of lovely speckles, or one that is calming and subtle.
Our Bright palette here is Bittermelon, Bronx and Ember.
Our Subtle colour palette is Daffodils (which is used in the Wrap size of Waypoint), Kaleidoscope and Soft Grey.
The Waypoint wrap is a great pattern as it has four different sizes to choose from! Sized from a Shawlette all the way to a Wrap, we think this pattern would be a great one for gift knitting.
Knit the smallest size for a quick gift, or the larger one for a special present.
Both of Lori’s new designs are finished off perfectly with some amazing statement tassels. We think they are so clever! They cleverly combine an icord into the tassel to make them a striking addition to the shawls.
Lori has used different coloured scraps of yarn to make up her tassels, which adds some lovely depth of colour. How about digging through your stash to find that perfect contrast colour, and making your tassels out of that?
The La Bien Aimee Merino DK would be amazing! We have a limited quantity left, but we think that the ‘Driftwood Graffiti’ colour way would make an amazing autumnal shawl or wrap.
Another great DK weight yarn you could use is the Brooklyn Tweed Arbor. If you fancy a cosy yarn in a solid colour, Arbor is perfect. We suggest you pick the colour that would wear the best with your winter coat, and you’ll be able to wear your shawl for the whole winter!
Now for the exciting giveaway news…
It was Susan’s birthday this week, and in the spirit of giving we would like to offer one person the opportunity to win three skeins of Qing Super Soft DK in the ‘Smoke’ colourway, so you’ll be able to make the beautiful Waypoint wrap for yourself!
