We’ve been having a last blast of wonderful weather, so we wanted to give a last hurrah to some gorgeous summer shawls, knitted in lovely plant-based yarns!
The Tokyo Shawl pattern from Isager is a favourite at Loop; several of our Loopettes have knitted their own versions, and many of our Knit Night regulars have too!
Our lovely Loopette Monica knitted this shop sample for us using Isager Bomulin, a cotton/linen blend 4ply.
Monica used a 4mm needle, and used just under 2 balls of each colour, apart from the white pop which only needed 1 ball.
We used very fresh summery colours for our shawl, but the Bomulin palette also has lots of lovely darker, muted shades. How about making a Tokyo to match your favourite summer outfit?
We’re also a big fan of this great summer version of Camp Wilkerson by Boyland Knitworks. This was made by Carole (who was featured on the ‘On Our Needles‘ blog post a few weeks ago!) for her summer holiday.
Carole chose a great palette of greens, and black and white. The shawl is knitted in the BC Garn Lino, which is a great summer yarn; it’s a 100% linen 4ply.
The shawl used 2 balls of each colour, and was knitted on a 4mm needle. The pattern calls for a DK weight yarn, but Carole adapted it by using a lighter weight, but followed the instructions as written, so it came out a little smaller.
We have both patterns in print at Loop, so you’ll be able to scheme your knits for Spring/Summer 2020!
We also want to mention this week that Pom Pom Issue 30 is now available! There are lots of copies available at Loop now. We have also stocked up on Quince & Co. Finch for the lovely Eventide top by Inyoung Kim, pick your favourite palettes now, we can’t wait to see them!
And here is a last little note to mention that the Great London Yarn Crawl is taking place 1st – 8th September! We’re so excited to welcome you all to Loop. Participants of the GLYC will get 10% discount when they shop at Loop during that week.
