Amanda Banham’s Darned-Beautiful Houses and Fabulous Things From Mehlsen and Mina

Amanda Banham’s Darned-Beautiful Houses and Fabulous Things From Mehlsen and Mina

Amanda Banham’s Darned Houses are among our favourite handmade treasures to have in the shop, and we are ecstatic that she has created a new collection just for Loop!

We love Amanda’s work so much and we are so honoured that she has taken inspiration from our own little shop in creating this very special collection of houses. The idea for this collection was sparked by workshops Amanda has attended at Loop on visible mending and embroidery. Her work is always moving and beautiful, and these pieces have a special place in our hearts.

The seed of Amanda’s houses and villages was planted on walks with her daughter around their hometown of Saffron Walden on the outskirts of Cambridge. Passing the houses, the two would make up stories about the people who lived inside to pass the time — especially when the weather was bad.

Amanda is still influenced by her Essex village surroundings, and has truly wonderful stories on her Instagram, and now her designs also reflect the lovely land of Loop! These handmade houses never hang around for long, and we expect the latest collection to be scooped up quickly. Amanda’s unique Long Houses, Small Houses, and Tall Houses would each make a statement in your own home.

Plant Dyed by Mehlsen Sets

We have put together some beautiful bundles of Plant Dyed by Mehlsen, the gorgeous wool that’s a firm Loop favourite whether it’s on its own or part of a kit. Everything about this yarn is done by hand, from handpicking plants found in nature around Jutland, Denmark, where Mette Mehlsen lives, to hand-dying the local, organic wool in small batches. The sets are available in two colour collections: Purple + Yellows are reminiscent of a sun-struck lavender bush while Green + Blues mimic a coastal scene. Each set contains six cakes and the yarn is perfect for embroidery and stitching, or fine knitting and crochet. If you’re in need of inspiration check out some of the scarves Mette has designed just for Loop! The crocheted Zinnia Scarf was released earlier this month and the knitted Colourwave Scarf uses the colours of Plant Dyed by Mehlsen to beautiful marled effect.

Mina Perhonen Fabric Packs

As of today we have a new batch of fabric swatches from the ultimate Japanese designer, Mina Perhonen. These random collections of six to seven pieces of beautiful and unique fabric are always a fount of inspiration. Whether you’re patching an old favourite shirt or slipping something extra special into your patchwork quilt, these incredible swatches will slot right in.
