Brooklyn Tweed Goes Back To Nature For a Brand New Palette
It’s been just over a week since Brooklyn Tweed Nature’s Palette Shelter launched and we are basking in the glory of this super soft and sumptuous yarn. We are huge fans of everything Brooklyn Tweed does and we’re so proud to be a European flagship shop for their yarns.
This new release is especially great because it is interchangeable with the traditional heathered line of Shelter and with the playful paired hues of Tones. The colour story possibilities here are just endless!
Whether you’re playing with three variations of the same colour (how about Northern Lights from the Nature’s Palette line plus Granita OT and UT from Tones) or mixing and matching (Shelter Newsprint plus the bold, bright Fireball in Nature’s Palette) you will not soon run out of fun ways to bring a bit of brightness to your knits.
Nature’s Palette is truly a gorgeous collection of 12 solid colours inspired by nature. Something in the way this yarn is spun or dyed also makes it much softer than the Shelter we’ve previously been acquainted with, and it’s just so lovely. This yarn is perfect for cosy sweaters with gorgeous textures and, of course, fun colourwork.
Over the years, Brooklyn Tweed has released some stunning designs for Tones and Shelter that will also perfectly show off the gorgeous colours and texture-ready nature of Nature’s Palette. Watermark is a gorgeous cardigan whose intricate textures are virtually architectural in scale. It shows off the gorgeous plushness of this yarn so well while still maintaining really defined texture. But this yarn doesn’t necessarily need fancy stitches to get gorgeous texture. Even stockinette will let it shine, like in the super straightforward Saddler, whose vertical arm and torso stripes make for a simple and effective way to introduce some contrasting hues.
For more of a challenge, the reversible (!) stranded colourwork of the Florin sweater. This one is not for the fainthearted. It takes super careful work all the way along to accomplish this, but the result is just stunning. Talk about texture!
Of course, if you’re just getting started on colourwork or you want to go back to the fundamentals, the First Colourwork Cowl is a cosy piece that doesn’t skimp on intricacy just because it’s meant as an introductory piece. It offers tons of opportunity to play with colour, with three-, four-, and five-colour versions of the pattern.
Of course, if you’re looking for patterns that have divine texture, delicious colourwork, and use worsted weight yarns, you can’t go wrong with two of our favourite knitwear collections, ‘Contrasts‘ by Meiju K-P and ‘Worsted‘ by Aimée Gille. Contrasts puts texture front and centre, playing with intricate lace patterns and bold cables alike. These patterns will sing in Nature’s Palette. Aimée’s debut collection features contributions from 10 incredible designers. Although these patterns were originally inspired by La Bien Aimée’s Corrie Worsted, they’re just as well suited to the broad colour selection of Brooklyn Tweed’s worsted weight yarns.

More Anemone Shawl Kits in Stock!
We have a brand new batch of Anemone Shawl Kits by Dee Hardwicke! This is just an incredible piece representing so much creativity and collaboration between some of the most inventive crafters. Dee’s Anemone Shawl was designed based on a watercolour she painted of an Anemone using Appledore yarn from Devon-based John Arbon Textiles. The kit includes a specially designed project bag by Dee Hardwicke featuring her original Anemone artwork (which is also sold separately) and a beautiful handmade tag, plus, of course, all the John Arbon Appledore you’ll need to complete the shawl and a printed pattern.
We’ve made more sweet Junior Yaku Blanket Kits using the soft and supple CaMaRose Yaku. This blanket is perfect for kids of all ages who just don’t want to let go of that baby blanket feeling. CaMaRose Yaku is a superwash merino, so this blanket can go anywhere and get clean with ease at 30 degrees Celsius. This pattern is also deceptively easy to knit and completely reversible! The kit comes with ten balls of CaMaRose Yaku in nine colours along with a printed pattern. There is also a baby version of the kit that comes with six balls of yarn in six colours.
We’ve received some of our Madelinetosh favourites: Unicorn Tails and Copper Glitter Merino Light! The great news is these are totally interchangeable as they’re made using the same merino light base. Unicorn Tails are mini skeins that are perfect for colourwork, so if you want a traditional fairisle sweater that also brings some bling, this is the combo for you!
We’ve also had a shipment of super gorgeous Qing Silk Mohair. This yarn almost seems to glow. It’s so soft, so fluffy. The halo effect is incredible. It can be knit on its own or held with another base to create beautiful and oh-so-warm garments. It works really well with all the other Qing bases we stock, Melted Baby Suri, Merino Singles, Super soft DK, Chunky and Veranita.
