Loop is open!

Loop is open!

Our London shop is open again! We reopened on 28th July, and have been planning and organising new events, both via Zoom and at the shop. We’re sharing these with you this week in case you missed them! We also have a little round-up of new-in things, and beautiful yarns and objects we have received this past week.

Beginners Sock Knitting class

We have a new beginners sock knitting class with our sock guru Jane Lithgow! This class will be over three consecutive Sundays in September, and will be held via Zoom. You’ll start with the basics, and by the end of the class you will have knitted your first sock! There is lots of information on our website, and you can also book your spot on the class there too.

Celia Pym mending workshops

We have four more dates for mending workshops with Celia, held via Zoom. The classes are two and a half hours long, and are scheduled at times we hope both people in Europe and North America can make, so more people have the opportunity to join! We have a list of suggested materials, and more information on the class over on the website.

Richard McVetis classes

We have two new classes with Richard McVetis coming up soon! The first is going to be held via Zoom on 5th September, and the second will be held in our London shop on 4th October, which is a Sunday. The shop is closed on Sundays, and the class will be with just 6 students. This way it will be more spacious and quiet for the students. The workshop will be held on our middle floor, rather than our basement classroom, and it should be really lovely!

Julie Arkell classes

More classes with the wonderful Julie Arkell have also been scheduled! We have one on 6th October and one on 6th December. As with the Richard McVetis class, these will be held on Sundays, when we are closed, on the middle floor of the shop where there is room to spread out a little more, and there is very good natural light and fresh air.

New goodies at the shop

Cocoknits needle gauges

We have beautiful new needles gauges that have just arrived from CocoKnits! These are a great compact size, and they’re made from a 100% biodegradable plastic substitute which we just love! You can use these to identify needle sizes 2-10mm (US 0-15), the little pieces swivel out and then you can fit them back together, and they have little magnet to keep them together when you’re not using the gauge. Genius!

Monahan butterfly ribbon

We have a new design in our range of printed ribbons from Monahan! This new one features butterflies. Each bundle of ribbon is 2.75 metres (3 yards) so there’s enough to add to a steeked cardigan. These ribbons are also beautiful threaded through a picot stitch, such as on our Oleander Shawl, or to finish off a blanket edge.

Tôt Le Matin restock

We’ve had a restock of Tôt Le Matin yarn, including the super popular Legende colour way that Susan is knitting with at the moment!

Wee bears and dogs

We have just been able to get a few more Wee Bears and Wee Dogs delivered to us! These sweet little creatures are are handmade by Lesley McCormick in London, using mohair and vintage fabrics.

Amanda Banham ceramic houses

These beauties have just been restocked! We received a delivery from Amanda Banham a few days ago, and we’re so happy to have these back in stock. We love that Amanda has been inspired by visible mending classes at the shop and our yarns to create her ceramic houses with ‘Mended Roofs’. They are little treasures.

Summer sale yarns

Lastly, we just wanted to remind you that we’re having a little summer sale on selected yarns at the moment. Once these sell out they won’t be coming back, so make sure you have a look while you can.

And remember…

We also just want to remind you that we are taking bookings for shopping appointments now, so if you would like to visit us we ask that you please book a time slot via our website. If you are in the neighbourhood though, please pop by and, if we have room, we would love to welcome you. If we are ‘full’ we can always take your number and send you a text when a space opens up.

For more details on shopping with us, see our post from last week.

We can’t wait to see you soon! Happy Knitting + Crochet!
