Moonwake Cowl

Moonwake Cowl

We’ve been having very stormy weather here in the UK for the past week or so, and spring is feeling a little distant at the moment. What better way to perk up than with the gorgeous new cowl pattern from Andrea Mowry? Moonwake Cowl uses 4 different colours of mYak Medium, a worsted weight 100% yak yarn. We have colour combination ideas for you!

mYak is such a special yarn, and we are always so excited when we see new designs that use this squishy, warm and cosy yarn. Their yarns are spun from 100% natural fibres, hand collected by their nomadic partners on the Tibetan Plateau and spun by the expert craftsmen of the finest woollen mills in Italy. Yak yarn is warmer than lambswool and as fine as cashmere!

We have some gorgeous colour combinations for this cowl to show you – we are so excited about this pattern! It’s available through Ravelry from Andrea. Andrea loved designing this cowl, which is knit in the round and seamed as a moebius.

We are super proud to be the UK stockist of this and all the beautiful mYak yarns.

Combinations with a twist…

Shown here is Quince & Co. Owl in Abyssinian with mYak Medium in Petrol, Saffron and Midnight Blue

Here we added a skein of Quince & Co. Owl into the mix, to add a bit of alpaca fuzziness – the Owl is 50% alpaca and 50% wool and so provides a different texture.

If you love this cowl, but are looking for a yarn at a slightly lower price point, why not try Blue Sky Fibres Highland Wool? Use Lilac Bloom, Mossy Green, Midnight Sea and Lake Loon to create a similar effect to Andrea’s original palette; you’ll need just one skein of each colour.
