New Beauties from Minä Perhonen Flutter into Loop!

There’s nothing quite like a delivery from Minä Perhonen. Their dreamy pieces of handmade haberdashery and accessories are always well designed, intricate, and just a little bit more beautiful than you could possibly imagine.

So you can imagine how delighted we are to have not one but two styles of Minä Perhonen bags in the shop right now. A brand new collection of Toast Bags as well as brand new Linen Bags are gracing our shelves and we’re beside ourselves with glee.

There is so much thought behind each Minä Perhonen design. Founder Akira Minagawa’s vision for long-lasting pieces that only grow richer with age is evident in every stitch that comes out of the studio. These creative masterpieces truly tell a story — and they invite you to add your story too.

Both of these incredible bags have lovely, simple, clean lines, leaving tons of room for Minä Perhonen’s detailed fabric designs to do the talking. The collage-style Toast Bags effortlessly combine six different panels of the studio’s handcrafted textiles, sporting signature Minä Perhonen embellishments — circles of dots, flowers, butterflies — as well as original shapes and images celebrating craft, creativity, and community. The tote acts as a vehicle to bring all these themes and motifs into conversation with each other on an artfully portable canvas.

The beautiful, bright Linen Bags highlight Minä Perhonen’s signature butterfly design as well as a bold daisy motif. These bags use colour brilliantly to subtly shift the feel of each bag. There’s much more here than meets the eye — each time you look at these beautiful patterns you see something new. With slightly longer handles than the Toast Bag and a more relaxed body, this is an everything-everywhere bag, whether you’re headed to a luncheon in the city or to a countryside getaway.

The great thing about these storytelling pieces is the story is never over. There’s always room for another chapter. For instance, Loopette Carole Downie added a long strap made of Minä Perhonen fabric scraps to a few Toast Bags, adding a crossbody option to these totes. Though this version isn’t for sale, we hope it inspires your imagination to run wild!

We just love these bags and all the other little pieces of joy Minä Perhonen brings us every day!

Welcoming Worsted (and a Few Lovely Guests!)

Aimée Gille of La Bien Aimée will visit loop on Saturday 30 April.

At long last Aimée Gille of La Bien Aimée will visit Loop along with Sini Kramer of Laine to celebrate the publication of Aimée’s gorgeous collection Worsted with a Book Event and Trunk Show on Saturday 30 April. This is going to be a fabulous day of celebrating the 14 lovely patterns in Worsted and all the scrumptious La Bien Aimée treats we’ve adored for years. The shop is open to all of our visitors, but if you would like to visit before the regular opening hours on Saturday we have a ticketed early entry. This ticket opens the doors at Loop to you from 10:30am-11:30am and we’ll have croissants and a special bag as a gift. Ticket holders will get exclusive early access to the shop and tons of time to chat with Aimée and Sini and look at samples from the book. Later in the day Sylvia Watts-Cherry, the designer of the beautiful ‘Amina‘ sweater, will also join us. The full schedule of events on the day is available over on our website.

Our weekend of book parties continues on Sunday 1 May, when Sini Kramer will join us once again to launch Contrasts, a book on textured knitting by Meiju K-P. We have this very beautiful book on pre-order now. More details and tickets for the Sunday event will be available soon. This promises to be a fantastic weekend celebrating the craft and the makers we love, and we hope to see you there!

Kits for Spring!

What’s more spring-like than a playful shoulder wrap? We can’t think of anything better to welcome the season than a colourful piece to keep out the last vestiges of winter chill while leaning into brighter days ahead. We’ve re-stocked our Qing Tiny Tassels Shawl Kits and Pop Spots Shawl Kits just in time to ward off April showers and welcome May flowers!

International Rescue Committee Fundraiser

IRC is an organisation that responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises & helps people to survive, recover & rebuild

We’re fundraising on Instagram for International Rescue Committee (@rescueorg) to help with all the terrific work they’re doing to help those who have had to flee their homes in Ukraine. We will match whatever amount we can raise by the end of the month to show that our community cares. Please note the fundraiser is only accessible through the Instagram app, not on the webpage.

Stay safe and stay well.
