Scrumptious Socks and More Snuggly Knits
It’s nearly time for the launch of 52 Weeks of Socks Volume II, and to celebrate we’re launching kits for two of our favourite designs in the kit and gearing up to share many of the delightful yarns featured in the book.
Hand-knit socks are one of the most fundamental joys in the world, and true sock fanatics know Laine’s 52 Weeks of Socks is the go-to text for patterns that will keep your toesies toasty all year round. So you can imagine our delight at the prospect of a whole new year of sock knits in 52 Weeks of Socks Volume II, which is available for preorder now ahead of the launch on 31 March!
Two of our absolute favourite designs from this new volume are the Pinwheel Socks and the Bequem Eleganz Socks. We love each of these patterns for a different reason. Summer Lee’s Pinwheel Socks are a totally joyful celebration of colour, pattern, and craft inspired by traditional pinwheel quilts and the Bequem Eleganz Socks are a real blast from Loopettes past: they were designed by former Loopette Emma Brace using Daughter of a Shepherd w
ool made by yet another brilliant former Loopette Rachel Atkinson. Honestly, how lucky can we get?
Summer Lee’s Pinwheel Sock is a joyful celebration of colour and traditional fibre arts that will be super fun to knit. We love the zany brightness of these. Our Pinwheel Kit contains a colourful smorgasbord of seven balls of Lang Jawoll, plus a Loop cotton project bag. We think the yarn included in this kit should stretch to two pairs of the smaller sizes of this pattern, and of course you can always top up your supply with individual balls of Lang Jawoll to get more mileage!
The Bequem Eleganz Socks were designed by the reigning queen of sock knitting herself, Emma Brace, so it’s no wonder they’re fabulous. Cosy yet elegant, these socks feature an intriguing mix of techniques and textures and two gorgeous yarns: Daughter of a Shepherd Drover Sock Yarn in “Whernside” brown and contrasting Boulettes Chaussettes Sock by (Vi)Laines in the pale pink, slightly variegated “Skinny Dipping”. Our Bequem Elegnz Sock Kit includes all the yarn you’ll need plus a Loop cotton project bag.

In addition to these two lovely kits, we’ll also soon have more stock of the La Bien Aimée yarns behind the Gaufrette socks in 52 Weeks of Socks Volume II. The Gaufrette Sock was originally knit in La Bien Aimée’s Super Sock, but the same colours, “Ponyo + Sosuke” and “Goldenrod” are available in LBA’s Tough Sock. All of LBA’s Tough Sock colours would be just glorious in this fab waffle-reminiscent sock pattern. Stock of this yarn should be arriving in time for our weekend celebrating Aimée’s Neons & Neutrals at the end of April.
PomPom Quarterly for Spring 2023
The latest issue of PomPom launched this week and it’s full of all the layers you need for spring. This issue celebrates the season that always keeps you guessing, the one when you don’t know whether you’ll walk out into blue skies and mild climes or blustery winds and hail storms. This issue features bright hats, socks, accessories, and top layers in a variety of weights using some of our favourite yarns, like Qing Veranita, La Bien Aimée Silk Mohair, and Biches & Bûches Le Gros Silk Mohair. Confluence Sweater and Neons & Neutrals
Speaking of Neons & Neutrals, we’re also in the process of making kits for the Confluence Sweater designed by Caitlyn Turowski for Aimée Gille’s latest collection. Our version will use Madelinetosh Merino Light in “Grapefruit” and La Bien Aimée Mohair Silk in “Sansa”, pictured above. We are so excited to welcome Aimée on the weekend of 29 April to celebrate the launch of this gorgeous book.
