Super soft Snefnug from CaMaRose

Super soft Snefnug from CaMaRose
Vintage-inspired mini colour palette in Snefnug!

As you may know, we love CaMaRose yarns at Loop! With wonderful fibre blends, a wide range of great colours, and organic bases, there’s no wonder we can’t get enough of them!

We have recently added a new CaMaRose base to the selection we have at Loop; Snefnug, meaning snowflake in Danish, is super soft, super versatile and affordable!

Snefnug is made up of 55% Alpaca, 35% cotton and 10% extra fine merino, which makes it incredibly soft. The yarn has a hollow chain-like structure, meaning it is both warm and lightweight when it’s knitted up.

With a palette of 33 gorgeous colours, this is a very versatile yarn you can use for a wide range of projects. We’re imagining sweaters and shawls for autumn, and cropped cardigans for cooler summer evenings.

Trine, from CaMaRose, always has wonderful pattern support for her yarns, and Snefnug is no exception. We have three of Trine’s patterns that recommend Snefnug.

Dreamy is a gorgeous cardigan, the perfect layer for autumn days, which looks fabulous with jeans. There is a ladies size, and a child’s size too!

We also have the Basic Sweater, a simple pullover for children with a wide range of sizes, from 4 to 9 years old.

The Basic Sweater is a great unisex pattern, great for beginners too!

All of us at Loop are coveting sweater quantities of the Snefnug, and so we’ve been compiling a list of patterns we would love to make.

The Sunday Sweater from PetiteKnit is designed to use the Snefnug held with a silk mohair – this would make the cosiest garment imaginable!

Vindaloo is a large crescent-shaped shawl from Quince & Co, and we’re imagining it knitted in one of the lovely neutral shades of Snefnug to wear over our shoulders in the autumn. The lace border on Vindaloo will fly off your needles in Snefnug, as it uses a 6mm needle!

There are lots of wonderful patterns on Ravelry you could pair with our new CaMaRose yarn, but a few of our favourites are below.

The Night Nook Sweater by Stephen West and The Daily sweater by Andrea Mowry are knitted using Woolfolk Luft, which the CaMaRose Snefnug is the perfect substitute for. The Snefnug has a larger range of colours, and is a little more affordable, so you could choose to combine some brighter colours to knit bolder versions of these wonderful striped jumpers.

Ginsberg by Norah Gaughan for Brooklyn Tweed would also be very beautiful knitted in the Snefnug. The gauge would work very well, and the lightness of the yarn would pair very well with the swingy, boxy fit of Ginsberg.

We hope you’ve been inspired by these ideas for our favourite new yarn!
