The Bird Collection

Stocking yarn from Danish brand Isager has always been a pleasure for us at Loop – so many gorgeous colours and fibres make it easy to love! A couple of weeks ago, we showed off the stunning Pop Spots shawl in Isager Tvinni, which makes perfect use of those shades and textures. This week, we want to share the to-die-for collection from Helga Isager called The Bird Collection – a book with 7 designs designs for women and six designs for kids using Isager’s wonderfully tactile yarns.

Take the Robin pullover, above – stylish, simple and great on a range of sizes. We are lucky enough to have some of the samples from the book in the shop at the moment. Here it is on Lydia in a gorgeous warm brown:

Our Isager Tvinni yarn is perfect for this pattern – lightweight, but still warm, it’s a heavy laceweight in over 50 colours! For the pink version use colour 39s – Peach with Grey, or for the version on Lydia use colour 8s – Dark Natural Brown.

We also think this colour would be perfect for a light, springtime jumper:

Tvinni in 15s - Dark Chartreuse with Grey

Not in the mood for a big garment project? We’re also in love with these Peacock armwarmers. Oh, the colour possibilities!

How about a spring-ier version in Tvinni and Highland Wool with a  lush green palette?

Clockwise from top left: Isager Highland Wool in Ocean, Greece and Sand and Isager Tvinni in 40 - Chartreuse, 40s - Chartreuse with Grey and 2s Light Natural Grey.

Now something for the little ones! This adorable shawl is a lovely mix of textures, knit in woolly Tvinni and the super-soft Isager Alpaca 1.

Try it in blue or green…

L-R: Alpaca 1 in 2s - Light Natural Grey and Tvinni in 57s - Light Blue with Grey and Alpaca 1 and Tvinni both in 46 - Mint Green

And something for the little man in your life:

Knit in only 1-2 balls each of Isager Highland in Clay and Isager Alpaca 1 in Mouse held double, you can whip this up in no time, making your little guy the most stylish young man for miles.

Of course, these are just some of the fabulous patterns in this book – drop in to the shop flip through the book and make your own colour and texture combinations, or feel free to call or email us to help you choose yarns tailored especially for you!

  1. Beautiful patterns! I particularly love the Robin pullover but I’m confused – that’s not a kids pattern, is it? Is it in the Little Birds book? I must have it!
