We’re all aswoon for Dashing, a brand new collection from Qing Fibres! Silky merino that takes to colour like a fish to water. Where do we sign up?
This plied fingering weight yarn is a worthy addition to our scrumptious collection from Qing, which ranges from lacy Veranita to the super plump Chunky. We are always in awe of what Qing founder Layla can do with colour but WOW. Dashing Fingering is just beyond the beyond.
Made from mulesing-free superfine 19.5 micron merino sourced from South Africa, Dashing is super comfortable to wear against the skin and has a sheen that makes all the colours sing. The fibres are fantastic for regulating body temperature and make a yarn with fantastic stitch definition, making it great for patterns with special stitches.
We love this yarn so much that we’ve made a brand new Tiny Tassels Shawl Kit in the Dashing colour Fizz-Wizz. We absolutely adore the way this yarn knits up into one of our all-time favourite pieces. It’s bright and bold and yet somehow still easy to wear, and did we mention soft?
This piece is sure to become a year-rounder—layered up with coats and sweaters in the winter for some extra neck warmth and tossed loosely around your shoulders for summer evenings when the chill comes in.

Mock Darned Sock Knitting Class
My oh my we can’t wait to welcome back long-time Loopette Emma Brace for a totally unique Mock Darned Sock Knitting Class, teaching a whole new way to think about sock knitting (and really any knitting). Emma is a master sock knitter and her creations are really beautiful. During the pandemic, she started experimenting with improvisational colourwork, introducing strands of colour and deciding on a whim which way they would go, what they would look like. The result is a playful and expressive “mock-darned” sock that draws inspiration from the techniques of some of Loop’s favourite menders like Celia Pym and Hikaru Noguchi. Join us on November 5th or 6th for a day-long class that will explore stranded colourwork knitting, following a chart, duplicate stitch embroidery, and switching needles in a pattern—all techniques that will come in handy no matter what you’re knitting. We will also be launching the pattern for these socks in a few weeks. Stay tuned!

You can hardly open one of her volumes without feeling Scottish mist on your face and hearing the Shetland sheep braying in the distance.
