We Love Weepaca

We Love Weepaca

This week we’re celebrating the wonderful Weepaca from Big Bad Wool. If you’ve ever used it before you’ll know what a treat it is, and with the arrival of a lovely delivery in a huge selection of colours now is the perfect time to play with some of our favourite Weepaca patterns!

Just a few of the beautiful colours of Big Bad Wool’s Weepaca

Weepaca is good for all kinds of crafting, but its super-soft texture and machine washability makes it especially great for baby and toddler knits. The huge range of colours — 48 in total! — make it easy to find a colour that will suit, or a combination of hues to tell a tonal story.

One of our favourite designs for Weepaca is the Rose Cardigan by Cocoknits. Shown here knit in the colour ‘Pink Noses’. It can be knit single- or double-breasted and it presents a perfect opportunity to play around with our sweet stash of buttons. Another fantastic Cocoknits pattern using Weepaca is the adorable Baby Bear, which will be in stock as a physical copy through our shop from next week and is also available to purchase as a PDF download via Cocoknits.

For a project that really brings the fun, the Oshare the Love Blanket is a celebration of softness. The blanket uses Weepaca and Oshare Pompom Yarn by Mondo Fil, a company that encourages you to ‘enjoy your fancy life’. Need we say more? The pattern alternates stripes of both yarns held together and Weepaca held single. With Oshare Pompom Yarn now available in 12 exciting colours, there are endless options to mix and match with Weepaca to make a unique palette.

Our baby Sprinkle Cardigan, designed with Juju Vail from our book Juju’s Loops, slightly adjusted and knit in Weepaca colours Nest and Linen

We can’t talk about our favourite Weepaca patterns without mentioning the sweet Sprinkle Cardigan from our book ‘Juju’s Loops’. Even though this pattern wasn’t designed for Weepaca, we love how this slightly adjusted pattern looks knit in the Nest and Linen colours of the yarn. If you have a pattern that calls for worsted weight yarn, Weepaca is a great choice! The original Sprinkle Cardigan pattern is available in our book ‘Loop’s 10‘, and will be available soon as a single pattern!

For a quick knit that uses only one skein of Weepaca in the preemie, newborn, and infant sizes, look no further than the Knotted Cabled Hat. This cute cap can be worn with the brim folded up to begin with and folded down as the child grows to eke out a bit more wear. The braided cable here adds some lovely texture to a classic babywear look. For even more ideas of how to use Weepaca, check out our collection of patterns using this gorgeous yarn.

Make a Textile House with Anne Kelly

Anne Kelly’s folk art-inspired Wooden Textile Houses

This October Anne Kelly is posting up at Loop for a weekend of two one-day Textile House Workshops on the 1st and 2nd of October. In five and a half hours of instruction, Anne will teach participants to design and make textile-covered wooden house figurine. Inspired by home and folk art, these pieces celebrate the beauty of fabric scraps, vintage pieces, and bits of embroidery. Over tea, coffee, and cakes, workshop participants will mix and match textiles brought from home and ‘bits’ to inspire provided by Anne. We can’t think of any better way to spend a day!

ChiaoGoo 30cm Circular Needles

Here at Loop we always like to have ChiaoGoo’s needles near at hand, and we’re so glad to add a new length to our repertoire. 30cm circular needles are small enough to keep the magic loop at bay for even the smallest items or project elements, like hats, gloves, and sleeves. The ergonomically bent tips are easy on hands and the tips are available in sizes 2mm to 5mm in increments of .25mm. These little tools really pack a punch!

Happy weekend Loopers!

  1. Susan, I cannot tell you how cheered I was by looking at this post. Every element of it summons up positive creative energies. Encouraging creative thoughts is particularly welcome as the news continues to bring us connection to ongoing horrors in our shared world.
Thank you and all of the Loopettes for all you do.
