Joy, Sweetness, and Wonderful Yarn at Loop!

Joy, Sweetness, and Wonderful Yarn at Loop!

We’re totally overjoyed this week that Susan joined Allison Thistlewood on her podcast for a nice long chat about all things making (and more).

Allison is ubiquitous in the London crafting scene. She was half of the team behind Yarn in the City and their famous Great London Yarn Crawl, she now organises the fabulous one-day festival Make Joy, and of course she’s the voice behind Champagne & Qiviut. She was even a Loopette for a while! As if that wasn’t enough, this year Allison launched the Make Joy Podcast, and it was a total honour that she asked Susan to be her guest for the final episode of the first season.

Susan and Allison had so much to talk about. From Susan’s inspiration for starting Loop 20 years ago, to her love for ice cream. She talks about her lifelong passion for textiles, her yen for a good flea market, and how she always intended Loop to be so much more than just a yarn shop. If you’ve ever wanted to spend an hour with Susan, this is your chance! You can find the episode on the Champagne & Qiviut substack or wherever you normally get your podcasts. Thanks so much, Allison!

Arthouse Unlimited Chocolate Bars

Speaking of being more than just a yarn shop, one of our latest arrivals is a collection of chocolate bars! Celebrating the artistic talents of adults with learning and physical difficulties, these bars are super joyful and all the proceeds go to a great cause. Arthouse Unlimited is dedicated to the health and happiness of adults with support needs, which they achieve by encouraging individuals to create and collaborate. That’s a mission we can get behind!

Yama Yarn Merino Linen Singles

Yama Yarn Merino Linen Singles pretty in pink! From left to right, Vanilla Latte, Terra cotta blush, Red clay, Cherry smoke, Dusk Glow, Cupcake Coral

We have such an exciting new yarn in the shop this week as well. Our latest yarn from Yama Yarn in South Africa is Merino Linen Singles. We first brought Yama Yarn to Loop in 2019 and completely fell in love. Inspired by the countryside surrounding her home near Cape Town, the colours and textures are beautiful and unique. Merino Linen Singles has a wonderfully rustic texture and is just perfect for hats, shawls, and sweaters. It’s also a great candidate to hold double with another yarn like mohair silk for a bit of halo or a worsted weight yarn for a marled effect.

Christmas Hours and Last Shipping Dates

As we head into the festive season, we’re pleased to say we’ll have extended hours during the week before Christmas! From the 17th to the 20th of December (Wednesday through Saturday) we’ll extend our opening times from 10:30am to 6pm. Sunday the 21st of December will be our last open day before Christmas, and we’ll observe normal opening hours of 11am to 5:30pm. We’ll close for Christmas from the 22nd to the 27th of December and for New Year from the 29th of December until the 2nd of January — however, we’ll be open as usual on the weekend of the 27th and 28th of December. Our normal schedule will resume from Saturday the 3rd of January.

The end of December may still feel ages away but believe it or not there are less than two weeks before the earliest cutoffs for international shipping by Christmas! Make sure to get your gift orders in to avoid disappointment!
