Classic Knits with Cashmere Klassik!

Gepard’s Cashmere Klassik may be making its Loop debut this week, but this yarn is no diamond in the rough. Honed over 20 years, it’s lightweight, it glides easily, and it’s perfect for sensitive skin — both in the knitting and the wearing!

Cashmere Klassik is a gem of a yarn. It has an elegant drape, a sophisticated finish, and with wear it develops a gorgeous halo rather than pilling (or if you want a shortcut to this halo effect you can soak your finished piece for 24 hours). It also pairs well with other yarns — whether they’re Gepard bases or otherwise — so it’s great for stripes and colourwork, and there’s never an issue with using up spare bits!

Now that we have this lovely yarn in the shop we can’t wait to start playing around with it! We already have an eye on a few really lovely patterns that use Cashmere Klassik. First, the crisp lines of My Duo Scarf by Norgardknit is a perfect way to show off the fine fibres in this yarn. It looks classically nautical in “Dark Blue” and “Sand”, but there are any number of colour combinations that would look fantastic, whether you want a refined look or something funkier.

The softness of Cashmere Klassik also makes it perfect for baby knits. PetiteKnit‘s Frankie Sweater Baby is a darling way to show off the incredible range of fashionable colours available in this yarn, while also keeping a wee one extra cosy. Knit it a bit oversized to keep them warm for years to come! We also love the Halo Loop Tee by Maja Klovdal (aka Other Loops). Balancing airiness and warmth makes for a great three-season tee (maybe even four-season in balmier climes!)

New Bags from Love It Amsterdam

They’re back! Longtime readers will know we adore all the amazing pops of colourful joy that come out of the Love It studio in Amsterdam. We’re so overjoyed that Ingrid, the maker behind Love It, has created some beauties just for Loop! This week we’ve been treated to two splashes of green in the form of the Green Circles Haberdashery Pouch and Green Circles Large Drawstring Bag. So much more than brilliant accessories, you can tell these have been designed by someone who has been in and out of a project bag her whole life. Durable materials and thoughtful details make these pieces the perfect companions for on-the-go crafters! New Woolfolk Tynd Colours

Blue beauties! We’ve received three new colours of Woolfolk Tynd and they’re dreamily serene. Glacier, Ocean, and Aegean are the ideal watery trifecta, and would make a perfect ombre for beachy knits or poolside cover-ups. This fingering weight yarn is the result of farming innovations to produce the very best merino wool, while also looking after the land. Exquisite Ovis 21 Ultimate Merino feels as soft as cashmere, but wears like merino.

Biches & Bûches Seaside Shawl KAL

We were thrilled to hear that Biches & Bûches will host a Spring Knit Along for the Seaside Shawl starting tomorrow, Saturday the 18th of April! We highlighted this little shawl in last week’s blog when we welcomed Le Lambswool to the shop. The pattern, which is available to purchase from Biches & Bûches or on Ravelry, also calls for a DK weight silk and mohair yarn. The original uses Le Gros Silk Mohair, but Isager Soft Fine would make a good substitute, and Gepard Kid Silk 5 could work if you wanted to give it a bit more fluff. The full KAL runs from Saturday the 18th of April through Saturday the 16th of May, and at the end you’ll have the perfect summertime shawl!

Stitched Leather Buttons

If there’s anything we love, it’s the perfect button. Finishing touches like this can eleveate a knit and give it a polished look and feel. These Stitched Leather Buttons are gorgeously handcrafted, with a sturdy, durable core wrapped in supple leather whose natural variation lends depth and interest. Visible topstitching finishes the look, making these a quirky take on a classic button style.
