Counting Down to Aitor Saraiba and Tomomi Mimura’s Visit!

Counting Down to Aitor Saraiba and Tomomi Mimura’s Visit!

It’s almost time to welcome Aitor Saraiba and Tomomi Mimura! These fabulous artists are coming to Loop for a whole week of textile joy, and we can’t wait for all the beauty they’ll bring!

We have so much planned for Tomomi (aka Mimstermade) and Aitor‘s visit, from a Window Painting to kick off their week here on Monday the 18th of May to loads of incredible classes (some of which still have a couple of spots left!) on their respective signature styles. But the one we’re especially thrilled about is the Meet + Greet with both artists on Friday the 22nd of May! This is going to be super special, with a pop-up shop, drinks, and nibbles.

This ticketed event is limited to just 30 guests, giving you an incredible opportunity to speak directly with Aitor and Tomomi about their work in a cosy and intimate setting. Plus, the pop-up shop will feature some of Aitor’s kits that we’ve never had in the shop before! He’s bringing them especially for you! Tomomi’s kits will be available too, and her amazing books as well (she’ll be happy to sign a book you purchase on the night, or one you bring from home).

Tomomi and Aitor have joined forces to create this beautiful, expressive bear, and you can learn to make one, too!

If you can’t make it to the Meet + Greet on Friday, join us for an Embroidered Bear Workshop on the afternoon of Saturday the 23rd. This class will be taught by both Tomomi and Aitor, combining their distinctive approches to embroidery into a truly gorgeous piece. We’re very honoured to host this workshop at the Crafts Council in Islington, a renowned place in British craft and a really incredible space to work in. We also have a few places left in Tomomi’s Embroidery on Knit class on Sunday the 24th, also hosted at the Crafts Council.

We can’t wait to get stitching with Tomomi and Aitor.

We have adored working with Aitor and Tomomi individually in the past, and we can’t wait to see the alchemy that happens when the two join forces. Each of these wonderful humans has developed such a unique style, and they’ve shared their gorgeous skills here at Loop so generously. We can’t wait to welcome them!

Chubby Jelly Scissors

Superb snips!

Chubby Jelly Scissors are back! Clearly you all love these as much as we do because they sold out in a heartbeat, but we’re chuffed to have them back in the shop. They’re super comfortable to hold, ultra precise, and of course stylish, too! Buy a pair for yourself or for your favourite stitcher, but don’t wait too long — these beauties are popular!

Rico Make It Perlchen!

Make It Perlchen brings beaded beauty to your knits!

Welcome Make It Perlchen! Like other favourites in Rico’s “Make It” series (think Make It Blumchen and Make It Tweed), this yarn is designed to be held double with your main yarn, giving it a little extra flair. Glass beads add a lovely glimmer to any project, and the seven colours of 100% lyocel carrier thread are designed to complement or contrast with your main colour. We love how simple this yarn makes it to add some sparkle!

Rico Luxury Pima Cotton x Baby Alpaca

The best of cotton, alpaca, and wool in one yarn.

We’re also delighted to have Rico’s Luxury Pima Cotton x Baby Alpaca in the shop, with all the strength of cotton, the softness of alpaca and the natural warmth of wool. This is a versitile and lightweight yarn that’s brilliant anywhere you want to keep things nice and soft, like for baby clothes or accessories you’ll wear close to your skin. Any knit will be cosy in Luxury Pima Cotton x Baby Alpaca!

More Zakami Fluffy Lace!

Fluffy and luxurious yarn from Zakami

We’ve had a delivery of Zakami Fluffy Lace from Edinburgh, where indie dyers Melinda and Gergely pour so much love into making gorgeous yarns! In lovely solids and wild variegated skeins, the beauty of hand dyeing really comes out in Zakami Fluffy Lace. Hold it double or let its beauty stand on its own — you really can’t go wrong!

Finca Perle Threads

We’ve received more lovely Finca Perle Threads as well! Made in Valencia, Spain, these threads have been produced by the same family for more than 100 years, and it shows in the quality and finesse of these threads. Available in two weights, No. 8 and No. 12, Finca Perle Threads make exceptional stitches.

Enjoy!
