Scout’s Honour! And a Great Giveaway

At Loop, we’re lucky enough to spend our days surrounded by gorgeous knits. Over the years we’ve seen so many incredible pieces come through the door. But every once in a while there’s one we just can’t get out of our heads.

Florence Spurling’s Scout Shawl is just that. We fell in love with this piece as soon as we saw it, and it has remained a favourite ever since. Over the years we’ve made loads of versions of this one, trying it in different yarns and different colourways. We even made a limited edition kit for this piece to celebrate our 20th anniversary! So it’s safe to say, we’re huge fans of Scout.

We’re super pleased to have kits in stock of both the original Scout Shawl and the Mini Scout Shawl. Both of these Florence Spurling patterns are incredibly engaging to knit and totally stunning and easy to wear. Using a mix of Fair Isle and intarsia techniques, this is a dream for colourwork lovers and a great stretch pattern for improving knitters!

Both the original Scout Shawl and the Mini Scout Shawl kits use Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light. The original, full-size Scout kit follows Florence’s original colourway, with just one colour substitute (which is still very close!) In the Mini Kits, we also have a special Loop palette, in addition to Florence’s original colours. The kit contains the right amount of each colour of yarn (with a bit extra to account for different tension), which saves you from buying full skeins where you need less. The kits also come with a Loop project bag. The pattern itself is sold separately via Florence’s Ravelry or her Website. 

Aitor and Tomomi Arrive Monday!

We’re thrilled that Aitor Saraiba and Tomomi Mimura (aka Mimstermade) are on their way to Loop! We’ve been looking forward to their visit for so long and now it’s finally here, and we have all kinds of goodies to celebrate. In addition to the incredible Classes (still a few spots left in the Embroidered Bear Workshop and Tomomi’s Embroidery on Knit Class!) the pair will be teaching, we’ll also be bringing you lovely kits from each of them starting Monday the 18th. We’ll have Mimstermade Rabbit Kits on Monday, and more kits from Aitor early in the week. If you’re in the area on Monday, stop by and watch Aitor and Tomomi paint our shop window! The shop will be closed, but watching this pair’s creativity unfold is a magical experience.

Aitor Saraiba x Cohana Pokeori Giveaway!

Most excitingly, to celebrate this week of creativity we’re giving away one super special Aitor Saraiba x Cohana Pokeori Kit over on our Instagram! These little gems were made in a limited run last year, and this is the last one we have. Aitor himself hand-spun and dyed the really lovely yarns in this kit using natural dyes, and they’re perfect for Cohana’s coveted Pokeori Loom. The whole thing comes in a specially designed tin that is the perfect little container for all your haberdashery bits, once you’ve used the kit.
