Knitting and Stitching Goodies Galore!
Oh my goodness we’ve had so many wonderful things arrive this week! From old favourites to brand-new treasures, our shelves are overflowing!
Books

Our dear friend Dee Hardwicke’s book The Knitted Fabric is finally out in paperback! This is a brilliant volume that showcases all of Dee’s creative genius, exploring in intricate detail the way each stitch we knit tells a tiny part of a story that becomes the fabric of our lives. From what we wear to how we furnish our homes, Dee shows how natural beauty can become part of every corner of life.

We’re also super delighted to welcome The Embroidery of Mexico, which is currently on preorder. This is a gorgeous celebration of Mexico’s rich and unique embroidery heritage by the Mexico City-based textile artist Gimena Romero. It covers eight traditional and modern styles of embroidery and their distinctive regional expressions, with templates to trace and practical guidance so you can make your own. Truly a wonderful guide to a beautiful tradition. This book will be published on 16 June, so if you order online make sure anything you want to have shipped before then is in a separate order!

We’ve received more copies of some of our favourite Tomomi Mimura (aka Mimstermade) books as well! In stock are Embroidery with Darning book 2, which focuses on large scale decorative stitching and mending using chunkier yarns, and Embroidery with Darning book 3, which focuses on delicate, small-scale decorative stitching. We’ve also received more of Tomomi’s book Tiny Friends: A Guide to Mosaic Embroidery, which is all about creating whimsical little creatures who bring so much joy. These books are a perfect way to explore more of Tomomi’s unique style!

We’re restocking our collection of incredible books by Kate Davies. If you don’t know Kate’s work, you’re in for a real treat. Her knitwear designs are inextricably linked to the textile history and natural landscapes of Scotland and the Highlands, where she lives. We have four of her beautiful books in stock now. Making Light explores the seasonal contrast between dark and light while Kate’s newest book, Knitting Wester Ross, as well as Davaar and Shetland Oo celebrate hyper-local textile traditions. More books are still arriving — so make sure to keep checking back if the one you want is still sold out!
Yarns

We’ve received a gorgeous new batch of “Venus in Furs”, our special Loop colour of Spincycle Dyed in the Wool. We adore everything about this yarn. The colour, of course, but also the handspun feel, the dramatic interactions of the different colours, and the way each skein is totally unique, as the dyed-in-the-wool strands meet in spinning. Beyond “Venus in Furs” we have a gorgeous collection of Dyed in the Wool colours.

Borgo de’ Pazzi Bibi is loads of fun. This super bulky yarn from Florence is the perfect way to add a bit of flair to a project in the form of a feature stripe, contrasting cuffs, or an oversized collar. It’s also wonderful for accessories and home decor, where it can make a real statement! Even with one skein of this beauty you’ll be turning heads.

We’ve also had lovely arrivals from John Arbon Textiles, De Rerum Natura, and Quince & Co. JAT’s Knit by Numbers has arrived in both 4ply and DK weights. Knit by Numbers makes it a breeze to pick exactly the shade you want — and to mix and match across colour families! The 4ply base is also available in minis, meaning you can work in a contrasting colour without buying a full skein. De Rerum’s worsted weight Gilliatt and DK/Sport weight Ulysse are produced in an ethically and ecologically conscious manner in France, from French and European merino. Look out for more stock in De Rerum’s other bases in the coming days as well! Finally, lightly haloed fingering-weight Quince & Co Finch is a little dream of a yarn that can handle everything from stockinette to lace, and looks brilliant no matter how you stitch it!
Haberdashery

It has been just over two months since we first welcomed Valdani threads to Loop, and they’ve quickly become a firm favourite. We fell in love with them on Aitor Saraiba’s recommendation, and we’re delighted everyone else adores them as much as we do! Impeccible quality, perfect variegation honed over decades of craft, and a pleasure to work with, there’s nothing we don’t love about these threads! Valdani Threads are back in stock, and perfect for all kinds of stitching projects. Pick up your favourite colours today!

We’re totally restocked on Stitch Holder Cords from The Knitting Barber. These are a blast and also super practical. Each tin comes with one long cord (150 cm/60 in) and two shorter ones (75 cm/30 in) to cover all the bases. These are the simplest way to save your stitches. Each set comes in its own tin to keep your cords well organised when they’re not in use as well. Pick your favourite colour or take home the whole rainbow!
More Workshops Coming
We’ll be announcing more workshops with Aitor Saraiba this coming week! He’ll visit during the weekend of September 18th to 20th, so keep those dates free and keep an eye on our Instagram this week for more information!
Have a wonderful weekend!
