Everything’s Coming Up Crochet!
We love every kind of stitching. If it uses a hook or a needle, it’s for us. But every once in a while, one type of stitching just totally captures our imagination, and right now it’s crochet!

It all started a few weeks ago with the Dreaming of Kansas Shawl, designed by Rachel Atkinson (of Daughter of a Shepherd) for Loop. This lovely pattern, which we bundled with gorgeous Freia Shawl Balls, was an instant favourite, and it was a total joy to see so many of you getting straight to work on it. We’re super pleased to now offer the Dreaming of Kansas Shawl as a stand-alone free Loop pattern, which you can download straight from the website. Rachel designed this piece with Freia Merino Shawl Balls in mind, but it would look fabulous in any fingering weight yarn. We can’t wait to see what you make!

Later this month, we’re delighted to welcome back Roseanna Murray, whose Crochet Heirloom Quilt Class was a real pleasure last time she taught it. Spending a day making a beautiful piece that will be treasured for generations is such a hopeful act, and at once connects you to future and past generations. The techniques Roseanna teaches allow you to play with different shapes and arrangements, and ultimately create a quilt that is all your own. There’s still time to join us on the 28th of June to learn and stitch with Roseanna in the lovely space next door to Loop at Frequency Coffee. We hope to see you there!

Speaking of classes, later this year the fun will continue when Claire Montgomerie comes back to the shop to teach her super popular Granny Square Workshop on the 10th of October! Claire is truly the queen of granny squares, as her super popular Granny Square Card Deck proves. Claire’s granny square innovations continue with her new book Claire Montgomerie’s Complete Guide to Granny Squares, which will launch in October, around the time of Claire’s visit. You can preorder the book now to be among the first to get it — and if you sign up for the class as well you can collect it on the day and get it signed! Following the Granny Square Workshop on the 10th Claire will be at Loop for a Meet + Greet from 4pm to 5pm. This is a great opportunity to chat with Claire and get your book signed. This event is free and there’s no need to book. See you there!

Finally, the crochet designer and gardener Chris Norrington has created a world of stitched botanical beauty in her book Crochet Collage Garden. With motifs inspired by her own garden on the edge of England’s North York Moors National Park, this is a beautiful way to bring the outside in and keep your garden blooming all year long. Chris has arranged 100 crochet motifs into 10 thematic collages — Woodland Glade, Vintage Blue Bouquet, Flower Meadow, and more. You can follow her down the garden path and re-create these collages or combine the motifs in your own way to create something unique.

La Bien Aimée Restock!

We’re super chuffed to have all our favourite La Bien Aimée bases in the shop! Hand-dyed in Paris by Aimée Gille and her team, these yarns are just exquisite. Versitile and luxurious Alix, unbelievably soft Kumo, and wonderful Merino Sport are just a few of the incredible yarns we’re honoured to be able to share with you. La Bien Aimée yarns also feature in two of our classic Loop kits, Cashmerino Tiny Tassels and the Pop Spots Shawl. We love all of these beauties!
Embroidered Sophie Scarf Kit Restock

We have more of our wonderful Embroidered Sophie Scarf Kits in stock as well! This combination of Hedgehog Fibres Tweedy, Camarose Midnatssol, and an embroidered flourish is already a firm favourite, and we’re so glad to have it back. You’ll save 10% on these luscious yarns and on the PetiteKnit printed Sophie Scarf pattern (if you choose to include it) when you buy as part of this kit. The discount is applied at checkout! Don’t forget to select the pattern from the drop-down menu if you’d like to include it — and keep in mind it’s a printed pattern, not a PDF.
Happy stitching!
