Celebrating 10 Years of Laine!

Celebrating 10 Years of Laine!

We are utterly delighted to welcome Laine’s 10th anniversary issue and congratulate them on this incredible milestone. We know all about the big and little things it takes to make it this far, and we are totally in awe of the incredible women who have made this powerhouse publisher what it is today!

We’ve had Laine in the shop from the very first issue of the magazine, and it has been such a joy to see how it has evolved over time and to meet so many of the incredible contributors who have made it a must-read. We’ve hosted more events for Laine books than we can count, and CEO and Co-Founder Jonna Helin even made it to our two pop-ups in New York. We feel super connected to these lovely knitters!

This summer’s Anniversary Issue is a bumper edition of everything we love about Laine. Featuring no less than 23 patterns by some of the top contibutors to Laine Magazine over the years, this special edition is worth its weight in gold. With updates on patterns previously published by Laine as well as brand new beauties, we’re sure this is a “bookazine” we’ll be coming back to for years to come.

There are some stunning beauties inspired by patterns previously published by Laine. Maaike van Geijn’s Jubilee Wervel is inspired by her design “Wervel” for Aimée Gille’s book Neons & Neutrals. That sweater graced the cover of the book, and Maaike’s career flourished as a result. The Jubilee Wervel turns that sweater into a cardigan and brings a fresh, festive palette. Susanna Kaartinen’s Snow Gum vest is inspired by her very first knit design, which was published in Laine 13. That design, a sweater called Viiva, was inspired by Susanna’s travels in Tasmania. Both feature colourwork motifs inspired by the shapes of the native trees and their branches. The inspiration for Sari Nordlund’s Poet Skirt goes all the way back to Laine 6, for which she designed the Poet Sweater. This skirt uses the same lace pattern, allowing it to flow naturally down its full length. Wear it alone or style it as a knit suit with the original sweater!

We’ve also loved to see the work of longtime friends of Loop in this issue. Aleks Byrd, whose latest book we celebrated with a meet + greet at Loop last year, has contributed Pael, a relaxed vest in which Aleks pays tribute both to her Estonian heritage and to her previous designs for Laine. Likewise, the Wild Rose vest is signature Dee Hardwicke — knitted fabric, a stitched motif, and inspiration drawn from the environment near her home in Wales.

There are so many more patterns to love in Laine’s Anniversary Issue and we can’t wait to fall in love with them all on the 30th of July. You can preorder your copy now to be among the first to receive it. Just remember, your full order won’t ship until the release date, so make sure to do a separate order for anything you need sooner.

Aiko Fukawa Bags

We adore these wonderful Mini Tote Bags and Knit Cherry Kitty Bags by the brilliant Japanese illustrator Aiko Fukawa. Her sweet characters are full of whimsy and charm, and the bags themselves are so thoughtfully designed. Illustrations adorn the front and back panels of the Mini Tote Bags and continue over the handle. A true immersion in Fukawa’s incredible work! The 100% cotton fabric feels substantial in hand without being too heavy. The kitty of the Knit Cherry Kitty Bags invites you to join her on the sweetest mission to “take flowers and go meet the people we want to see.” The high-gauge knit material is perfect for preserving the hand-drawn nature of Fukawa’s design and is lovely to carry. These bags are the perfect accessory for a carefree day out and about!

Foundations by Sari Nordlund

If her gorgeous skirt in Laine’s Anniversary Issue wasn’t enough, Sari Nordlund has a collection of 20 original knitting patterns launching at the end of July as well! Published by Laine, Foundations brings together stellar accessories that will elevate any outfit (and make you feel cosy too!) Hats, scarves, socks and more suitable for men and women alike make this a book you’ll return to again and again, both to boost your own wardrobe and to make beautiful things for people you love! Like Laine’s Anniversary Issue, Foundations officially publishes on the 30th of July. Preorder your copy now! Just make sure you order anything you need before the publication date separately.

Tiny Tassels Kit Restock

The Loop Tiny Tassels Shawlette is the perfect accessory to transition through the seasons.

We may still have our toes in the sand, but this is the time to start thinking about shoulder-season knits — those little beauties that will take you from summer sun into autumn colours and straight through to winter shivers. Luckily we’ve restocked our Loop La Bien Aimée Cashmerino Tiny Tassels Kit, the ultimate all-season accessory. This shawlette will see you through the last thrills of summer and will be a comfort through the first chills of winter. And it’s a great train/plane/beach/festival knit. Once you get the hang of the simple pattern, it’s super easy to repeat row after row. Our pattern is available for free, and our Kit saves you from buying full skeins for the tassels and gives you a Loop project bag to boot! It comes with all you’ll need to have a super satisfying project in your bag and a fabulous shawlette to show for it!

Enjoy!
