Spring Treats for Cherry Blossom Time!

Spring Treats for Cherry Blossom Time!

Spring is in the air and everywhere you go there are cherry blossoms galore! This time of year is so special, especially in Japan, and this year our friends at Cohana are celebrating with some truly unparalelled haberdashery.

We’ve got a bit of a thing for scissors. Over the years we’ve brought many darling and delightful pairs of snips to the shop from all over the world. So when we say a pair of scissors is the most beautiful we’ve ever seen, you know that means something. Cohana’s Limited Edition Sakura Scissors with Golden Lacquer are just that. Cohana’s tools are always exceptional quality, and these special scissors that celebrate Japanese colours and traditions go above and beyond. Even the packaging is thoughtful and exquisite: a wooden box, a leather sheath, a special wrapping cloth. Unwrapping these scissors is a treat in itself!

Cohana has also released limited edition colours of their Mini Scissors from Seki “Sakura Pink” and “Lilac” versions bring the subtle colous of spring to sweet pairs of snips designed by Hasegawa Cutlery in the traditional cutlery-making town of Seki. We adore Cohana all year round, but these springtime limited editions are especially wonderful!

This lightweight yarn is made entirely of paper fibres, and its structure makes it ideal for summer accessories. There are a few ideas for how to use it in Luxury Knits – Summer Pieces, but it would suit any knit or crochet piece that calls for a bit of structural integrity! If you’ve been disappointed by other raffia yarns before, this one is sure to fit the bill — it’s silky, refined, and a joy to have on your needles.

Aitor Saraiba and Tomomi Mimura Meet & Greet and Window Painting

Tomomi Mimura and Aitor Saraiba

Our visit from Aitor and Tomomi (aka Mimstermade) is getting closer and closer! We can’t wait for our week of creativity with these two, and we’re super chuffed to announce the dates of a few more things they’ll be doing while they’re here. First, the pair will paint the shop window on Monday the 18th of May. The shop itself won’t be open that day, but if you’re in the area feel free to stop by and watch the scene unfold! Then, on Friday the 22nd from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, we’ll host an intimate Meet & Greet, which will be an amazing opportunity to chat with both artists and hear more about their work. You can get any of Tomomi’s books signed — bring your favourite from home or buy a new one in the shop! There will also be a pop-up shop featuring some of Tomomi and Aitor’s products that we don’t normally stock in the shop. These lovely things will only be available to Meet & Greet attendees, so get your ticket today!

See you soon!
