Two of Daisies, Two Years On!

Two of Daisies, Two Years On!

There’s nothing quite like seeing the many lives a pattern lives once it’s out in the world. As a designer or collaborator you may have ideas in mind for colour, texture, fibre, gauge, but you can never truly predict where the wonderful community of knitters will run with your stitches.

We were totally overjoyed when we saw a totally gorgeous take on Lindsay Degen’s Two of Daisies pattern by Madeleine of Yama Yarn. We worked with Lindsay to launch the Two of Daisies scarflette (and its sister pattern, the Six of Daisies cardigan) almost exactly two years ago, and we still totally adore its bold shapes and playful vibe. Madeleine’s version, in her signature hues and gorgeous Merino Singles and Silk Mohair, is making us fall in love all over again.

We’re thrilled that Madeleine of Yama Yarn has given us a reason to revisit this pattern.

We first met Madeleine when we brought some of her small-batch hand-dyed yarn to Loop in 2019. Madeleine’s yarns are deeply rooted in South Africa where she lives. She finds her fibres, her dye materials, and her inspiration in the beautiful countryside that surrounds her home. She even dyes her yarns in a corner of her garden overlooking a gorgeous array of native plants! Her version of Two of Daisies uses her Merino Singles in “Spice Hunter” and Yama Fibres Kidsilk in “Retro Peach”. This is a classic colour pairing — not to mention very “Loop-y”!

Quite a card — Just like a playing card, Lindsay Degen’s Two of Daisies pattern is mirrored top to bottom.

From the very beginning we let our imaginations run wild with Two of Daisies, with different Loopettes coming up with different colour and yarn combos to form the six options for our original kits for this pattern. Since then, we’ve seen so many of you knit your own versions of this pattern, and each one has been gorgeous and unique. Still, when we saw Madeleine’s version we were so awed that we couldn’t resist putting together a whole new kit in her gorgeous hand-dyed yarns!

Gorgeous “Retro Peach” and “Spice Hunter” join forces in the Yama Yarns version of Two of Daisies.

The Yama Yarn Two of Daisies Scarflette Kit contains everything you need to bring Madeleine’s version to life. There’s a skein of Kidsilk in “Retro Peach” and a mini skein of the “Spice Hunter” Merino Singles that Madeleine has made especially for this kit. There is a lovely printed version of the pattern included, and a very special Loop project bag printed with a design inspired by Lindsay Degen’s daisies. We can’t wait to see so many more Two of Daisies scarflettes out there in the world!
