September Snuggles: Syd, Socks, and Skeins

September Snuggles: Syd, Socks, and Skeins

Blustery skies, ever-earlier sunsets, and rust hues on the trees. This time of year calls for drawing in, tending the home fires, and creating cosiness to keep out the cool days ahead. This week, we have a stellar collection of beautiful things to help you do just that!

Syd the Rabbit

Over the summer we worked with the very first Loopette, Claire Montgomerie, to bring out a special edition of her classic pattern for Syd the Rabbit for our 20th anniversary. Initially a one-off upcycled toy, Syd became so popular and so emblematic of Loop that Claire wrote a pattern, and the rest is history!

As we head into our next decade, we’ve had a blast celebrating all that we’ve done together so far, and Syd is no small part of that. We’re so pleased that Claire will join us on 12 October to host a Syd the Rabbit Workshop to help everyone crochet their own sweet bunny. Claire will walk through the basics of making crocheted toys and go step by step through the Syd pattern for anyone who wants some hands-on guidance. We’ve held back a few Syd the Rabbit Kits just for workshop participants, though you’re welcome to use your own materials as well. A full list of what you’ll need is on the Workshop page, and the option to purchase a kit for the workshop is in the drop-down menu there as well. We’ll even hold your kit for you in the shop to collect on the day!

Sweet and silly Syd is sure to be a lifelong friend.

If you’d rather stitch Syd on your own, you’re welcome to purchase one of our 20th Anniversary Syd Kits and we’re very pleased to announce the launch of the Special Edition Printed Syd Pattern as a stand-alone as well! Syd is just the snuggly pal you’ll want to have around on quiet nights in or autumnal adventures!

mYak x Isabell Kraemer

Isabell Kraemer’s custom colours for mYak Fior di Lino: Walnut, Maroon 8, Oliver, Lagoon, Baltic Sea, and Casino Royal.

Can you think of a dreamier collaboration for autumn than Isabell Kraemer and mYak? The inspired designer of gorgeous and comfortable knits and the innovative purveyor of exquisite yarns are a total match made in heaven, so you can imagine how thrilled we were to hear that Paola of mYak invited Isabell to create a custom collection of colours for Fior di Lino. The six colours at Loop are a moody range of deep ochre, rusty red, olive green, gorgeous blues, and deep purple. We were over the moon when Isabell launched her Heimathafen Sweater in Fior di Lino earlier this year, and we can already visualise so many gorgeous versions in this new array of colours. It would be so special to have a sweater whose pattern and colour were both designed by Isabell! In the coming days and weeks, Isabell will also be releasing a collection of new patterns using her Fior di Lino colours. So far we know there will be a cute one, a comfy one, and a colourful one. Keep an eye out!
