Wishing You Holiday Peace & Joy

It’s difficult to fathom that we’re nearly at the end of 2025 — and yet the lights are twinkling, the wine is mulled and the gift lists are (nearly) ticked off. Soon we’ll be off to gather with loved ones, but before that, we can’t help but reflect on what a phenomenal year this has been.

a close-up of part of Julie Arkell’s 20th anniversary window at Loop!

This was a banner year for Loop, as we celebrated 20 years since the shop first opened! Our celebrations over the summer reaffirmed all the things that make this community so wonderful. From old friends like Julie Arkell, whose incredible work has been a part of Loop’s story since the very earliest days, to new ones like Aitor Saraiba, whose marvellous stitching made its Loop debut this year, our anniversary was made special by the creative forces that join together to make something totally unique. Julie’s anniversary window captured all the artful whimsy the shop has come to represent, and Aitor’s Loop Shopper Bag stitching kit used an iconic shop piece the jumping off point for creative exploration. We’ve loved working with Aitor this year, and we’re so chuffed that he has decorated our shop window for Christmas!

Aitor painted our window for the holidays! Collaborating with Aitor this year has been a total joy and we can’t wait to welcome him back in 2026 for more kits, workshops, and sublime stitching!

Our anniversary also saw updates to a few very special Loop patterns, including Syd the Rabbit by the original Loopette, Claire Montgomerie, and Otso the Bear by former Loopette Sophie Heathscott. We also re-introduced a chic update to the Sous Sous sweater by Norah Gaughan and released a Jade Sapphire Hand-dyed Cashmere version of Florence Spurling’s Scout Mini Kit — totally luxurious.

Our charity sample sale and 20th anniversary prize draw did so much good for The Trussell Trust and MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians).

Of course the other thing that is always so important to us is to be able to use the things we love to give back to the people who need our help. That’s why we made sure to keep back some of the special items in our 20th anniversary collection so we could host a prize draw for charity. Between the prize draw, a sample sale, an Instagram fundraiser, and our pledge to match the funds raised we were able to donate nearly £15,000 to The Trussell Trust and MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians) this year. It means so much to us that we have such a caring community and that we’re able to join up to do so much good.

In some ways this was the year of the granny square. We launched the Bomboloni Babette Blanket Kit, which had long been a favourite shop sample and is made up of crocheted granny squares of different sizes. Our kit brought Kathryn Merrick’s design to life with a hand-selected collection of some of the most gorgeous yarns on the planet, all perfectly portioned to help you make a blanket with as few odds and ends left over as possible. The Boulette Scarflette Kit also celebrated the humble granny square while making the most of Laines Vilaines Boulettes Solitaires Fing.

Some of our favourite brands and creators treated us to stunning new items this year. Sally Nencini, whose handmade dolls and toys we always adore, came up with a “Diamond Dog” we love so much we asked her to make a bespoke colourway for Loop! Meanwhile, Lykke’s Flight Needle collection set a new bar for quality interchangeable needles, using medical grade, hypoallergenic, corrosion-resistant stainless steel.

And at the heart of it all, of course, is our true devotion to lovely yarns. We were delighted to welcome hand-dyed yarns from Hedgehog Fibres and Herbarium Dyeworks this year as well as new bases from old faithfuls. Gepard knocked it out of the park with super fluffy Kumula Cashmere, glorious Kid Silk 5, and sustainable Eco Cashmere Vintage. La Bien Aimée graced us with Alix, a perfect storm of elegance, softness, and warmth. Knit By Numbers from John Arbon Textiles arrived at loop in 4ply. We loved the addition of this lighter base to our lovely collection of yarns from John Arbon! Rico’s unbelievably fluffy and cuddly Furry Furry became the perfect yarn for making amigurumi — especially Rico’s Furry Animals. And mYak awed us with Fior di Lino, an incredible blend of linen, yak, and Tibetan sheep wool.

We are so grateful to all of you who were a part of our story this year, and we can’t wait to share more beauty in 2026. For now, we wish you a very happy holiday filled with love and joy, and a peaceful new year!

xoxo
