A Super Special Stitching Collection from Aitor Saraiba and Loop!

As we get ready for Aitor Saraiba’s visit next week we’re thrilled to bring you a totally unique collection of exquisite embroidery goodies we’ve curated with him!

Our Loop + Aitor Special Embroidery Box is really one of those things you just dream about. Aitor and Susan have been working their magic to bring it all together for months, and it’s such a delight to see their vision come to life! This is one of those collections that will become a cornerstone of your crafting collection. It’s full of inspiration you can turn to again and again, and it’s our hope that you’ll restock it over the years with your own super special stitching finds.

Unique swatches from Japan are the perfect way to embellish your stitch story. The vintage textiles on the left were hand-selected by Susan and brought back to London just for these embroidery boxes, and the Mina Perhonen textiles on the right are firm favourites here at Loop. If you want to add even more Mina swatches to your embroidery box—or stock up à la carte—we’ll have more Mina Perhonen Fabric Swatches in the shop on Friday the 18th of September.

We’ve brought together some favourite handcrafted fabric swatches and threads from all over the world—vintage Japanese fabrics (hand-selected by Susan in Kyoto) and Mina Perhonen swatches, wool threads from Au Ver a Soie, Sajou St. Pierre, and Laines Vilaines. These are joined by 25 embroidery templates of Aitor’s original designs on high-quality card, including some of his most iconic motifs. A handmade haberdashery tin containing some gorgeous essentials rounds out the collection!

From box to bobbin, everything in our Loop + Aitor Special Embroidery Box was chosen for a reason.

Absolutely everything in this collection has been hand-selected and handcrafted, and that includes the box it all comes in. W. MacCarthy & Sons has been making cardboard packaging for nearly 150 years, and they still manufacture their high-quality products right here in London. The gorgeous box they’ve created for us is meant to be used again and again. The Loop + Aitor Special Embroidery Box is available to preorder now and we’ll start shipping them on Friday the 18th of September. We are so grateful to Aitor and the hand-dyers and independent makers who have helped make this so special!

Next week we’ll welcome Aitor to the shop to celebrate the launch of the English version of his book Embroider, Mend and Sew as part of Selvedge London Textile Month. His book is still available to preorder, and they’ll all be signed! We’re also excited to have several of his kits back in the shop. His Red & White Swan Kit, Black Swan Mini Quilt Kit, Snippet Roll Kit, and Amulet Kit are coming back, and we’re also welcoming his Stitched Little Bear Kit. This new kit was crafted for his Loop workshops of the same name, but the kits are available to all. The kits will be in the shop on Friday the 18th of September in celebration of his book launch. What a joy to be surrounded by so much of Aitor’s work!
