An Abundance of Crochet Coolness

Everything is coming up crochet! From brand new publications to new spins on old favourites, we’re all going wild for all this cuteness.

First up, we have a super special visit next week from the unparalleled Claire Montgomerie. Claire is a crochet genius who made waves last year when she launched her often imitated, never equalled Granny Square Crochet Deck. Now she’s back with a floral version of the deck (which we teased a few weeks ago) and she’s hosting two Floral Crochet Workshops to set you off on the right track with all the designs! Claire will work through the techniques you’ll need to make her gorgeous patterns in person, and each participant will receive their own copy of her Granny Square Flower Crochet Deck. After meeting up at Loop, participants will be brought next door to our neighbour Frequency Coffee, where you’ll sip a complementary drink while you learn from the master herself. There are still a few spots left in both the morning and afternoon sessions. Sign up and we’ll see you there!

If you can’t make it for the workshop, Claire’s Granny Square Flower Crochet Deck is also now available to purchase à la carte. This clever card deck is every bit as wonderful as the original, with floral goodness to boot. Beyond the 50 full-colour cards with detailed stitching instructions, a useful booklet provides guidance on working in 3D with crochet and selecting colour combinations to make your work pop.

As if that wasn’t enough to keep you going, Laine has also just launched a special one-off new crochet magazine, Let’s Crochet. This edition has everything we’ve come to expect from a Laine publication: gorgeous photography, thoughtful articles, interviews with brilliant crafters, and of course a bunch of patterns you’ll want to sit down and make straight away. This is one you’ll come back to again and again!

We’ve also been spending time with some of our favourite crochet kits. Mette Mehlsen is getting ready to send us a new “Pastel” colourway of her popular Wildwood Crochet Scarf Kits and we can’t wait. Mette’s naturally dyed wool is always a treat to receive, and we’re totally smitten with these sherbet hues she’s sending our way. All of her dyes come from materials she collects near her home in Denmark, and all the care taken in the process of making these little bundles of yarn is clear in the finished product. We’ll have even more wonderfulness coming from Mette this summer as she has created something extra special to help us celebrate our 20th anniversary. Keep an eye out for more news in June or July!

We’re also pleased to report we have Boulette Scarflette kits in stock of the “Happy Pop” colourway. Our very own granny square scarves are such a lovely, happy piece to make and to wear, and it has been a joy to see how you’ve all embraced these new Loop original kits over the past two weeks since they first launched! We’re always delighted to bring you more of what you love.

And if you need some tools to do all this crocheting with, treat yourself to Lykke’s 6″ Crochet Hook Set, a full suite of gorgeous crochet hooks in a convenient and organised case. These are genuinely the most beautiful crochet hooks we’ve ever seen, with all the smoothness, lightness, and warmth of Lykke’s knitting needles. With the 10 sizes included, you’ll be able to tackle any project your heart desires!
Knit Pop: Designs for the Modern Maker

In addition to all the fun we’re having with crochet, we’re super excited that Knit Pop has launched! This collection from Miki Teragaki brings fresh energy and a modern twist to some classic shapes. Think bold textures, new approaches to construction, and runway-ready looks. This is Miki’s first book of patterns, and each of the 16 designs is totally original!
Stitch with joy!
