Autumn Knits and Holiday Bits

Autumn Knits and Holiday Bits

With the arrival of October, it feels like we’re finally in the full swing of autumn. Gorgeous colours are coming out on the trees all over London, and wooly sweaters and accessories are finally starting to make an appearance.

With temperatures finally set to drop after a warmer than usual September, the shop is getting busier. And it’s not just cosy autumnal knits people are getting ready to cast on — we’re already hearing about winter holiday knits! Belive it or not, Christmas is just 12 weeks from today, so it’s absolutely the right time to start thinking about what you might want to make for your seasonal celebrations, whether that’s one show-stopper of a gift or a little treat for everyone. You can check out some of our favourite one-skein projects that make great gifts in our “One-Skein Projects for Winter Wonder” post from last year. (Lots of these are free Loop patterns!)

We’ve already started prepping for the holiday season as well, with some really wonderful goodies on their way. This year instead of doing a Christmas box we’re launching a fabulous Haberdashery Case. A specially designed canvas pouch will come full of totaly covetable tools and treats for stitchers of all kinds. Stay tuned for more information on this in the coming weeks! We’re also launching a Loop Beginners Kit at the end of this month, which would make the perfect gift for the aspiring knitter on your list. Don’t forget you can also preorder a Loop + Aitor Special Embroidery Box — a cornucopia of creativity that will be a huge source of inspiration for crafty person.

Spend a day working creatively with Julie Arkell.

We’ve just added a few places to our Julie Arkell Creature Workshop on the 25th of October. Make your own Julie Arkell style character in this all-day workshop at Loop! Starting with a papier-mache doll made by Julie, you’ll spend the day using stitched and knit embellishments based on Julie’s patterns to make a piece that’s all your own. The chance to work with Julie is a coveted one, and these spots never hang around for long!

Learn to incorporate items from the natural world into your stitched projects.

We’re over the moon to welcome Katerina Knight’s book Stitching with Nature, which launched yesterday! In this hotly anticipated publication Katerina teaches you how to use the bounty of nature in your creative projects. Dried plants become the materials for beautiful crafts in Katerina’s hands, and this book shows you everything you need to know to do the same, from sowing seeds to sewing stitches. Stitching with Nature is the perfect way to reconnect with the natural world and with your own creativity this autumn.

We adore the Acorn & Will Retro Deer Brooch. This playful, happy deer is so joyful. It’s the perfect thing to bring a bit of character and originality to any jacket or bag, and the perfect finishing touch for any outfit. Delightful Petra Boase Handy Haberdashery Bags are back in the shop in Pink, Green, and Acid Green. These practical pops of colour keep your supplies well organised, plus they’re super fun. Toadstool Stitch Markers are the perfect haberdashery for autumn. Glass mushroom beads are joined by metal leaves in this collection celebrating the sights of the season. These limited edition cuties are handmade in California and can accommodate knitting needles up to US10/6mm.

Happy frolicking!
