Back to the Shop with Some Old Favourites and New Delights
As the first month of the year draws to a close, and with COVID cases looking to be declining, we are so excited to re-open our shop in London from Wednesday 2 February! We’ll still have precautions in place (more on which below), but we can’t wait to see all our lovely customers in our cosy space.
We have a gorgeous new batch of Miesje Chafer’s lovely Handmade Haberdashery Pouches in the shop! These adorable and super useful pouches are sewn and silkscreened in Britain just for Loop. Miesje loves to create bold, beautiful, and functional textiles, and these beauties are no exception! At 17.5 cm wide x 13.5 high with a zipper closure, these pouches are perfect for all your favourite little haberdashery bits.
You all were so excited about Florence Spurling’s Florence Shawl Class on Saturday 16 April that we’ve added an afternoon session! Florence herself will join us in the shop to teach the techniques used to create the gorgeous knit flowers that are the star of this shawl, including working modularly, two methods of making bobble stitches, picking up live and edge stitches, and more! Like the morning class, in-shop attendance will be limited to six people. If you can’t make it to the shop, check out our Zoom Florence Shawl Class on Sunday 20 February!
Pom Pom Quarterly’s 40th issue is filled with dreamy, floaty projects to fulfil your wildest knitwear fantasies. Aptly titled ‘Dreamscape’, this issue includes 10 knitting patterns that we can’t wait to get on our needles. We have good stock of lots of great mohair yarns, including Ito Sensai from Japan, Isager Silk Mohair, and Gepard Kid Seta. We also have a few skeins of gorgeous mohairs from La Bien Aimee, Kokon, and Qing, but you’ll need to act quickly!
A beautiful new book by Brandi Cheyenne Harper celebrates the benefits of knitting for the knitter, whether you’re a professional or slowly making your way through a wobbly scarf. The book offers suggestions for finding time to carve out for creativity and includes 10 knitting patterns inspired by revolutionary women of colour and their impact on our world. The patterns and Harper’s prose are so inspiring! Knitting for Radical Self Care is available now.
Nathalie Lété’s sweet, nostalgic Beloved Toys Scarf is back in stock at Loop. This cotton piece celebrating the treasured companions of youth came out of Nathalie’s March 2020 project of sketching her fans’ favourite toys. Her goal was to to recognise the importance of small objects in troubling times as a memento, in her description, of “these special days, where little objects, toys, and souvenirs become very important”. The 70-centimetre square cotton scarf brings all of Nathalie’s lovely toy drawings together.
We are so excited to be opening our doors again from Wednesday 2 February, with opening hours Wednesday-Saturday 11:30-5:30 and Sunday noon-5. We can’t wait to see you all! Still, we want to keep in mind that the pandemic isn’t over. Even though English law for wearing masks has changed, we will continue to respectfully ask you to wear one when visiting our London shop to keep each other safe. We want everyone, as much as possible, to feel confident and safe while visiting Loop. Some people, including some of our staff, are immunocompromised, and we feel wearing a mask is a small ask to make sure we’re protecting them. We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation!
Thanks so much to all of you who have already re-activated your online Loop accounts and claimed your 50 bonus Loop Love Points! Don’t forget, shipping to the EU is now a breeze, with VAT included on orders up to €150! Browse to see what has changed at loopknitting.com
Hope to see you soon!
