Loop has new embroidery threads! Au Ver A Soie was established in Paris in 1820, and has been producing high quality silk threads since then.

They are perfect for all kinds of embroidery and stitching, even luxurious quilting! These lovely silks can also be used in jewellery making, tapestry, visible mending, cross stitch, sashiko, lace making, and more.

We are stocking several kinds of threads from Au Ver A Soie, so this week we’re running through each sort – they’re all so beautiful!

First up, we want to show you the Metallic Sets. These are wonderful boxed threads of six spools of metallic threads, in lots of lovely tonal shades.

The metallic threads from Au Ver A Soie are made from a blend of Curpo (which is a kind of modified viscose) and polyester.

These would be beautiful knitted together with a cast on or a bind off to add interest, or for some beautiful sparkly embroidery.

Next up are the Silk Bobbins. These are 100% pure silk, wound onto tiny beautiful wooden bobbins. There are so many colours available in this range, which can be seen fully in store.

We love the Silk Thread Packs from Au Ver A Soie most! These have five different types of threads in a little colour co-ordinated pack. This is a great ‘sampler’ pack of different textures and tones, four of them pure silk and one matching metallic, so you can use different types of embroidery thread in one project.

We have lots more colours available on our website!

Each pack contains a twist of 7ply silk, a spool of 3ply raw silk filament, a spool of metallic thread, a spool of low twist flat filament silk and a wooden spool of 2ply spun silk.

All the silks have beautiful lustre, and are all slightly different shades.

Lastly, we have the Denim Silk Set. In each set are six twists of 7ply silk in shades of blue. The silk is plied very lightly, so you would easily be able to divide them into finer strands. These varied indigo blues would be super beautiful used in sashiko or stitching on denim.

These sets are currently out of stock, but we will have more soon! If you would like to be notified when they arrive, please send an email to us at shop@loopknitting.com and we can add you to the waiting list.

If you’re planning some embroidery, you may also need some handy tools!

We have several kinds of great needle threaders now in stock at Loop. These are all from Clover, who make wonderful useful haberdashery.

We also now stock several kinds of embroidery hoops. There’s the special no-slip hoops from Morgan, which are made of plastic (and are also perfect hoops for punch needle as they withstand the pressure without the fabric moving at all), and the wooden hoops from Rico. Both of these brands have several different sizes, so you’re bound to find the right size for your project.

We hope you love these new threads as much as we do! Happy stitching everyone!

And don’t forget that this Saturday, April 27th, is Local Yarn Shop Day! We’ll have goodies in the shop and gifts for the first 25 people that purchase something on their visit to our London shop on Saturday!

Woolfolk is supporting Local Yarn Shop Day by offering a free hat pattern to anyone who buys 2 skeins of Woolfolk FAR for the hat, in store on Saturday. If you make a purchase in store, we will give you the download code which can be redeemed with Woolfolk, on their website or on Ravelry, before midnight on Sunday.

We hope you can visit us!
