Brooklyn Tweed Ranch 02: Forbes is here!

This week marks the launch of the newest yarn from Brooklyn Tweed – Ranch 02: Forbes. We’re so excited to have this yarn at Loop, with its warm earthy colour palette and springy softness. We just found out we are lucky enough to be the only stockist in Europe of this beautiful yarn, and we couldn’t be more proud!

Ranch 02: Forbes is 100% American Rambouillet wool, from Forbes Ranch in Wyoming. This is Brooklyn Tweed’s second second breed-specific yarn that has been sourced from a single ranch.

The Forbes Ranch lies near Kaycee, Wyoming, in the eastern valleys of the Bighorn Mountains; a land of sagebrush, prairie, and red shale cliffs. Home to the Forbes family for three generations, the ranch was founded by Scottish immigrants from Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The Forbes family takes pride in raising healthy sheep with exceptional wool, while sustainably managing their pastureland.

Grown in Wyoming, wool from the Forbes Rambouillet flocks travelled to Crescent Woolen Mills in Two Rivers, Wisconsin to be wooden-spun and plied into a worsted weight yarn, retaining plenty of springy, lightweight softness. After spinning, Ranch 02: Forbes journeyed to Caledonian Dye Works in Philadelphia to be dyed in a rich, earthy palette inspired by the rugged landscape of Wyoming’s ranch land.

Ranch 02: Forbes is a testament to connection: connection between the land, the sheep, the ranchers, and the artisan who shepherd the fibres along its supply chain.

We are very proud to stock yarns with such wonderful provenance at Loop – Ranch 02: Forbes has truly been born from a love of wool and of artisan craftsmanship. This yarn really honours those who have grown the wool. It’s so fantastic to have these beautiful breed-specific yarns from Brooklyn Tweed at Loop.

To accompany the launch of their newest yarn, Brooklyn Tweed have released two new patterns. Designed by Jared Flood, these patterns have been created especially to show off the qualities of Ranch 02: Forbes.

Forbes Pullover

Knitting in this lovely bouncy worsted weight yarn, the Forbes Pullover has plenty of cosy luxury. This sweater is simply constructed, with minimal shaping and seams only at the underarms. The Ranch 02: Forbes lends depth and sumptuous softness to the textured yoke of this classic pullover.

Tillage Hat – free if you purchase two or more skeins

This hat features the same cable motif as Jared Flood’s Tillage Pullover from Brooklyn Tweed’s Fall 2019 collection – bold cable panels and plenty of gansey-inspired texture – worked in a thicker worsted weight gauge for a fast and fun knit. The Tillage Hat showcases the softness and elasticity of American Rambouillet wool.

We have all the wonderful patterns from the Fall 2019 Brooklyn Tweed collection available to view on our website, and the PDF patterns are available directly from Brooklyn Tweed or on Ravelry.

As a thank you for purchasing the new Ranch 02: Forbes, Brooklyn Tweed are giving away coupon codes for free copies of the Tillage Hat pattern from Ravelry. We will enclose these codes with purchased yarn!
