Bunches and Bundles of Holiday Joy from Rico and More at Loop!

Bunches and Bundles of Holiday Joy from Rico and More at Loop!

When it comes to Christmas, nobody does it quite like Rico. From daily Advent calendar treats to get you in the spirit to gift makes for everyone on your list, Rico’s incredible range really shines during the holidays.

This year we have not one, not two, but THREE incredible festive boxes from Rico, and they have a few other holiday-themed tricks up their sleeves that will make them all the more fun. In addition to Rico’s 2024 Advent Calendar and Christmas Rocks Advent Calendar, which many of you have already ordered, we also have the Christmas CAL IV – Candy Canes!

The Christmas CAL IV – Candy Canes is a very fun concept where Rico will be releasing a free pattern each week for seven weeks beginning 18 October to make a candy cane scene, and all the yarn for the patterns are included in the box! By the end of December you’ll have seven very cool characters to decorate your tree, bush, or mantlepiece, each featuring a fabulous wintery candy cane.

Rico is releasing seven new patterns between now and the end of the year, and all the yarn you need to make them is in this box!

We also totally adore Rico’s more traditional advent calendars, the 2024 Advent Calendar and the Christmas Rocks Advent Calendar. Not only do all of their 24 boxes add up to one very fun holiday decoration, they also come in boxes that you could reuse again next year if you wanted to make your own crafty advent calendar. Why not arrange a swap with your maker pals!

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Rico has tons of great fodder for the festive period, whether you want to make something for someone special or give someone the gift of craft for the new year. The fabulous designs in the Mini Shawls Booklet will knit up quickly and surely please everyone on your list. And for a touch of whimsy, why not add a few Shrooms to your nativity scene? Rico’s Shroom Booklet and Shroom Yarn Box would also make a fantastic gift set for keen crocheters on your list. And what scene isn’t made just a bit brighter with the addition of a pompom? Pressed Flowers Kerchief Class with Rhona MacKillop

If you can knit and purl you can make your very own Pressed Flowers Kerchief! And Rhona MacKillop will teach you how.

If you want a little help getting started on gift knits for the holidays ahead, our new Pressed Flowers Kerchief Class with the lovely Rhona MacKillop is just the thing. This beginner-friendly session on Saturday 9 November comes with all the materials you’ll need to make an impressive Pressed Flowers Kerchief (a smaller version of the Pressed Flowers Shawl, and also designed by Amy Christoffers). If you can knit and purl you can make this pattern, and it is sure to impress loved ones this winter, especially if it’s your first year making hand-crafted gifts! The class will cover the pattern and techniques to make the kerchief in detail, and after three hours of tuition you’ll leave with the yarn, circular needle, and (most importantly) confidence to finish this piece on your own. Come enjoy some tea and biscuits and a day of knitting fun!

The Doodle Knit Directory

Fancy spicing up your knits with a bit of fun colourwork? This book has you covered. With a whopping 200 icons and motifs worked across the same number of stitches (so they’re super easy to mix and match), The Doodle Knit Directory is the perfect way to add a bit of flair! The book includes nine patterns for accessories like hats, scarves, and mittens that are perfect for trying out the charted designs, and once you get the hang of them you can add them to just about any knit, with maybe just minor adjustments to make sure you have the right number of stitches. Doodle away!

Midnatssol New Colours

The chilly season is upon us, and with it the time to cultivate not just warmth but also softness. So much of what comforts us when the weather starts to bite is the feeling of cosy ease. Cue the arrival of 16 gorgeous new colours of the awesomely cuddly CaMaRose Midnatssol. This magnificent lace weight yarn has enough structure to knit on its own, but for this time of year we definitely recommend holding it double with another yarn (like CaMaRose Snefnug, Gepard Wild & Soft, or Biches & Bûches Le Petit Lambswool) for an extra warm and fuzzy feel.

Happy crafting!
