Here at Loop we don’t play the Christmas music until December, and we don’t start posting wrapped Christmas present pictures before then either!

Present Pockets

We like to make our gift wrap from fabric: it’s a great way to use up odd pieces of sewing left-overs, or reuse felted knits. The receiver is often just as excited to get the pouch as they are the gift inside.

Here’s our super quick make for a present pouch using any left over length of fabric and one of our beautiful embroidered ribbons.

Making a fabric envelop at Loop London
1. Cut the ribbon to the same size as one end of your rectangle of fabric. With right-side of ribbon against wrong-side of fabric, sew edges together.
2. Turn ribbon to right-side and tack edges together along long edge.

3.With right-sides together and ribbon trim inner-most, fold into an envelope-overlap. 4. Sew down both sides.
5. Turn envelope right-side out. 6. Fill with gift. 7. Fasten closed with a brooch, badge, mistletoe trim or shawl pin and attach a tag.
