Christmas Wish Lists at Loop 2015

It’s the return of our Christmas wish lists! Each year we ask the lovely Loop staff to choose what they want to find under the tree come the 25th.  From haberdashery to books, we have a range of gift ideas from the knitters who know the shop from top to bottom!

Remember, we also have a Christmas gift idea section on the website if you are looking for some inspiration of what to write on your wish list.

Vintage Darning Egg and Sajou Darning Thread
Vintage Darning Eggs, Pink and Cream and Sajou Darning Thread

Talented sock knitter Jane has learned to darn this year and so to keep all her hand knits looking tip-top she would love, “a box of all the colours of Sajou darning thread and a vintage Bakelite darning mushroom. I could sit by the fire over Christmas and peacefully bring some of my old favourite socks back to life with a colourful badge of honour for the new year.” What a lovely idea Jane!

Tudor Roses by Alice Starmore and Sajou Hare Scissors. Loop, London www.loopknitlounge.com
Tudor Roses by Alice Starmore and Sajou Hare Scissors.

Though new to the Loop team, the stylish Camille has wasted no time in finding one of the most exquisite books on the Loop shelves. Tudor Roses by the incomparable Alice Starmore is part history, part fashion and a whole collection of incredible knitting patterns. Each stunning design is inspired by a member of the Tudor dynasty, reflecting the style and motifs of the period. Of course one needs some equally elegant haberdashery for such a project, so Camille would like a pair of any of the Sajou scissors as ‘they are all gorgeous!’

The effervescent Emma would like a stocking filled of her favourite Zauberball for socks and for the stripes in a Funky Grandpa cardigan. A jumpers worth of the merino cashmere blend of Eden Cottage Yarns Hayton in Marigold or Steel would also suit her very well indeed!

We welcomed the delightful Anna to the Loop team this year too. A lady who loves her notions it’s not surprising she’s gone for the practical tool of Knit Blockers to help keep her projects looking their best. Use these toothy chaps instead of lots of individual pins, making blocking quicker and easier!

Our super star manager Jemima is feeling inspired to design a christmassy jumper with a vintage feel. She’s asked for a festive bundle of Brooklyn Tweed Loft in Long Johns and Fossil so she can start swatching.

Also joining us this year is the charming Christiana, and we know she’s a Loopette now because she has chosen the staff favourite a mini Miga de Pan Elephant! To keep her cosy this winter she’s also chosen some of the chunky Woolfolk Hygge in a festive shade of Burgundy

The lovely Annie would like a whole rainbow of Spindrift for some fair isle projects which she is planning next year. Plus now she has learned to make socks, she has been influenced by Emma’s choice and wants all of the wild colours of Zauberball too!

Orkney Angora Magical Golden Goose, Sage and Slate, Shibui Silk Mohair in Ash. Loop, London www.loopknitlounge.com
Orkney Angora Magical Golden Goose, Sage and Slate, Shibui Silk Cloud in Ash.

Our resident Loop Lad Colin is keeping Christmas fluffy with a selection of mohair and angora. The soft halo and gorgeous colours of the Orkney Angora make it a favourite of his for jumpers and cowls (Colin recommend the free Loop pattern Hawick!) while the new Shibui Silk Cloud is coming in a close second. Just as fluffy, this yarn silky mohair creates the lightest and warmest of knits

Twig and Horn Bag in Orange. Loop, London www.loopknitlounge.com

This years orange in the stocking comes courtesy of Twig and Horn. Sophie would chose one of their wool tote bags for carrying her latest WIP in style and providing a cheery pop of colour during winter days.

Sajou Threads and Horse and Cart Scissors. Loop, London. www.loopknitlounge.com
Sajou Threads and Horse and Cart Scissors

After catching the embroidery bug, wonderful Loop owner Susan would love the treat of a whole set of the Sajou Threads. These threads are a mix of wool and a touch of nylon which makes them ideal for darning, but they are also a lovely texture to add embroidery detail to knits and fabric. The delightful Horse and Cart scissors from Sajou add a finishing touch to snip those loose threads.

We’ll be bringing you more gift ideas in the next few weeks, plus our own little present to you of a free pattern, so stay tuned.

Until next week, Happy Knitting and Crocheting!
