Christmas Wishlists!

We know it’s still over a month until Christmas but, as knitters, we’re inherently inclined to plan ahead. A few years ago we compiled lists of what we would ask Father Christmas for if the elves made yarn and haberdashery and we thought it would be fun to do it again! We think it might be useful when you’re compiling your own wishlists, or if you’re thinking about shopping for a knit or crochet inclined friend. We also mentioned a few years ago that you can create an online wishlist from any shop using the Amazon Universal Wishlist Button. That way, as you’re browsing our online shop, you can add things to your wishlist for Father Christmas to see!

First up this week is Lydia, she’s the one you’ll see around the shop with the cropped (sometimes pink!) hair. She is a lover of rustic yarns, garter stitch and bright colours. Her wishlist this year is quite varied and includes some wonderful haberdashery.

Column 1: Misti Alpaca Tonos Carnival 4 ply – a strong but soft alpaca sock yarn to make the Quince & Co Abbey Road Socks. She hasn’t quite decided which colour to choose from Mint, Goldwatch and Cerise.

Column 2: Fancy Tiger Crafts Heirloom to knit the Take Heart hat from Pom Pom Quarterly, Issue 7. Loop will be stocking the fabulous fur pom poms from Toft Alpaca to go on top soon, so she’ll take one of those too!

Column 3: A stunning Sajou Embroiderer’s Pocket Knife, as she’s the embroiderer of the bunch, although it’s great for cutting yarn ends too.
Tosh Sock in Mineral and Handmaiden Casbah in Stardust to make a very soft and cosy Rivington Cowl.
And finally, a very special pin cushion, hand embroidered (of course!) and using vintage fabrics by Alice Rose Lewis.

Emma is the Loopette with the most languages, speaking perfect English and French as well as German, and has a lovely vintage style. She’s currently obsessed with two things: lace and socks, which is evidenced in her selections for Father Christmas!

Victorian Lace Today – perfect for anyone, like Emma, who has a love for both lace and historical fashion.

Jade Sapphire Lacey Lamb – a very fine, very soft lambswool yarn, which comes in lovely colours.

The Haapsalu Shawl – a gift book if there ever was one, this is full of inspiration and stitch patterns for creating beautiful, ethereal lace shawls.

BC Garn Semilla Organic Lace – Emma chose dramatic Deep Purple to perhaps – you guessed it – knit a lace shawl.

The Knitter: Knitting Masterclass – Since Emma’s already an experienced knitter, she’d like to take home this book to get to grips with some of the more advanced techniques this book has to offer.

Navia Sock: A heavy, worsted or aran weight sock yarn, this is perfect for trying out socks for the first time, as Emma did. She’s now hooked and turned into a bit of a sock machine, which means she needs more yarn fuel for that fire.
