Cotton Delights and Plenty of Stripes!

We just can’t get enough of that beautiful summer sun that is starting to shine, which means only one thing, more summer yarns! New to Loop we have the light and soft Alba Cotton from the lovely BC Garn.

Alba is perfect for those of you who’ve got a soft touch, this combed cotton reminds us of the feel of a much loved and much worn cotton t-shirt. Ideal for those next to the skin garments for summer babies and for you – plus it’s machine washable! And you can feel extra comfy knowing you’re knitting with an organically produced cotton – even the dye on this yarns labels has been ecologically produced.

We’ve got zingy brights for those summer tops you’ve been planning, plus some gorgeous dusty neutrals. We’ve had fun (as we always do on the blog) pairing our new favourites together.

When we sourced Alba earlier in the year, we were partially smitten by the stunning top made by BC Garn employee Tineke Lund. ‘Stripes-2407BC’ has been designed by their in house designer Jytte Slente – we just love the way classic corrugated rib stitch is transformed into a riot of colour! Jytte has designed the pattern so the amount and frequency of the colour change is up to you creating a totally unique (and fun!) summer knit.

Yarn Quanties: 400, 40o, 450g/ 8, 8, 9 balls of BC Garn Alba,
The pattern sample above uses one ball of each of the colours 227 Gold, 28 Mustard, 29 Brown, 30 Mushroom, 02 Lilac, 11 Sky, 24 French Blue, 10 Baby Blue, 32 Rose.
Needle and Notions: Circular needle 4.0 mm/60cm & 4 stitch markers
Gauge: 24 sts and 30 rows in corrugated rib = 10 x 10 cm on needle 4.0mm

‘Stripes’ gives you the canvas to play and experiment with colour, so of course we had to start planning our own!
