Designer Visits and Classes in July!
Pomfest Knit Night at Loop; Thursday, July 6th with Bristol Ivy

Loop is the host Sponsor for Pom Pom Quarterly’s fifth anniversary celebrations: Pomfest.  To celebrate Pomfest, Loop will be having a special Pomfest Knit Night on Thursday July 13th, with Bristol Ivy.

Bristol, who is joining us from the United States, is the designer of our beautiful Teazel cardigan pattern. The event is free from 6:30-8:30pm but we ask that you phone the shop (020 7288 1160) or email us (shop@loopknitting.com) to reserve a place, so that we have an idea of numbers. Refreshments will be served.

While Bristol and Olga Buraya-Kefelian (Olga Jazzy) are in town for Pomfest, we invited them to teach some special classes at Loop, beginning this weekend.

Intarsia Knitting with Bristol Ivy

Do you know the difference between intarsia and stranded knitting? Stranded knitting uses two colours of yarn in a row, whilst carrying one strand behind the stitches. The fabric is characterised by its double thickness (the knitted stitches plus the float of unused yarn), lack of stretch and limitations of pattern due to a maximum strand length of 2.5cm.
Whereas, intarsia knitting can have any number of colours in a row, has no strands running across the back, remains stretchy and is perfect for creating picture knits or bold graphic patterns.

Bristol Ivy is teaching three workshops with us this weekend, including  an Intarsia workshop on Sunday, July 9th from 10-1. Check out all her workshops on our Knitting workshop page.

Olga Buraya Kefelian

Olga will also be teaching a series of workshops at Loop on the weekend of July 16th. We have a number of her beautiful samples in the store now. Come and have a look!

We still have places left on her brioche workshop, where she will share the secrets that helped her create the Sento Shawl pattern.
