Dye for Yarn is a new indie yarn at Loop. We are the first shop to carry this fingering weight yarn, which is dyed in Germany, and made from 75% Merino Superwash and 25% Mulberry Silk.

This is a new venture for us since it is the first time we are carrying a yarn in non-repeatable colours. Up until now, we have always insisted that dyers supply us with yarns colours that we can re-order. We all know that the yarn may be different from one dye-lot, to the next, but we have an idea of what to expect.

However, Susan went nuts for this yarn when she found it. We love the colour sense of the dyer and were willing to take a risk on buying limited quantities of a given colour.Who can resist, with names like Rotten Strawberry and Cream Candy?

The yarn base is a lustrous, crunchy combo of merino and mulberry silk, that takes the dye well. With 400 metres on a skein, one skien will make many shawl patterns and almost any pair of socks. But if you have bigger plans, make sure you buy all you need, because you won’t find the same colour again.

We will be posting the colours each time we get a shipment but please come in and stroke our selection.
