It’s already that time of year! Edinburgh Yarn Festival is just a few weeks away and we have been working very hard at Loop to plan and pack up the amazing selection of yarns and haberdashery that we will have with us this year. This week we’re going to give you a little sneak peek of all the goodies that will be on Loop’s stand this year.

First up, we want to tell you about Eden Cottage. This brand is a Loop staple and a firm favourite with many of the staff. We will be bringing the wonderful Hayton yarn with us to EYF, as well as kits for our Piccadilly shawl. These include three skeins of Hayton yarn, in playful colour combinations picked out by Susan. We will have samples of Piccadilly on our stand, so you’ll be able to try them on and pick out your favourite colours! Susan will have her ‘A Girl’s Best Friend‘ shawl with her too, if it gets off her needles in time. This is also knit in Hayton and it’s a great pattern by Isabell Kraemer.

Silvestre Mitt kits will be coming with us too, perfect to cast on on the train or plane home from Edinburgh!

We’re so excited about having Woolly Mammoth on the stand with us. This is brand new to Loop and will be launching at EYF. This yarn is beautifully dyed, using natural dyes, and we will have Emily’s Natural Sock base. It’s perfect for a precious addition to your sock drawer, but also for shawls and wraps. We’ll also have the wonderful mini natural sock sets, five 20g skeins of beautiful naturally dyed yarn all tied up in a ribbon of Irish linen! We will have this yarn in our shop after EYF as well.

Quince & Co Tern will also be coming with us to Edinburgh. This lovely wool/silk blend is used in the Ginkgophyte pattern from Pom Pom Issue 28. There will be a sample on our stand, and the Spring issue of Pom Pom, and we will have lots of colours to choose from, including the original colour way.

Next up is the Lain’amouree yarn. This is truly special, and very luxurious. We will have both the Cassiope, the sparkly sock yarn, and the Aphrodite, which is a beautiful blend of alpaca, silk and cashmere. Hand-dyed for us in France, we even have our bespoke colour from Pauline!

We used the Aphrodite yarn for our sample of Olives in November by Kirstin Kapur, which we will have at EYF. We will have kits available for this lovely shawl, using the colour way shown below! These kits are also in our London and online shop now.

We are so pleased to be bringing Twirl yarn with us. Each cake of Twirl yarn has an incredible amount of love and care go into it, and we just can’t get enough. This yarn is dyed with plants and is mordanted with sea water from the Pacific Ocean. We will also have some of the beautiful undyed colours with us!

Susan chose a combination of the undyed and naturally dyed Twirl yarns for her ‘The Twigs‘ sweater, designed by Junko Okamoto.

We will have Harrisville Designs newest yarn, Nightshades, on the stand too. We will have plenty of skeins for sweater quantities, and we have a gorgeous sample of the Paris Toujours shawl designed by Isabell Kraemer. This will be with the yarn, so that you can get an idea of the texture and handle of the yarn once is it knitted up.

Viola yarns will also be on our stand over the weekend, which we are over the moon about. We will have a little of the Merino Fingering, a plied superwash pure merino wool, and the Organic Merino DK, which will be in kits. This is for a very special new design by Fiona Alice for Loop, which we will be launching at EYF.

We will have a limited number of our Wildwood kits with us, which use the Mehlsen yarn from Denmark, in the Rose and Forest Floor colour ways. We will also have a few individual balls of this lovely plant dyed lambswool which is very beautiful for embroidery, stitching and crochet.

Qing Fibres will also be on our stand. This is another favourite yarn at Loop, and we always love unpacking the deliveries, they’re such a riot of colour! We will have the Qing Merino Singles, and the Kid Mohair Silk bases with us.

Next up is the Snail yarn. We will have the bundles of mini skeins on our stand, which include 2 Loop exclusive colours. We will also have 100 gram skeins in four different colours. We are launching these for EYF! This yarn is used for the Aurea wrap from Pom Pom Issue 28, and we will be selling kits to make this beautiful stole.

Lastly, we will be bringing plenty of Life In The Long Grass sock yarn. This is still quite new at Loop, but has definitely become a customer favourite! Hand-dyed in Ireland, this is a really beautiful sock base in an earthy colour palette.

If all of these gorgeous yarns aren’t enough for you, we will also have oodles of haberdashery items on our stand, as well as a small selection of books and printed patterns, and project bags.

The Kaliko project bags will be there, alongside the Isabella pouches and our lovely Woodland themed bags.

We will have the newest Interpretations, Volume 6, by Joji Locatelli and Veera Valimaki on our stand. This will be launching with us at EYF, and we are so excited about it! We will also have the third instalment of the Madder Anthology on our stand, as well as Hegla Isager’s newest book ‘Stitches‘. Helga will be with us on our stand to promote Stitches, so if you drop by you’ll be able to say hello!

We will be publishing a schedule of all of our EYF guests closer to the time, and we will also publicise the times on our Loop Ravelry group.

If you purchase any of our kits over the weekend, you will get a very special ‘Loop in Edinburgh’ tote bag, which has beautiful illustrations by the talented Julie Arkell.

We are so excited about Edinburgh Yarn Festival, and we hope to see you there! We will be at stand H1!

And now to announce the winners of last week’s giveaway!

  1. Well if this doesn’t tempt us to get our gladrags on and venture forth to EYF (just a short trainride there for me), nothing will. What a cornucopia of delights to behold. Look forward to seeing you there. Happy trails.

  2. Love your books and patterns!! So much color and inspiration. Looking for the layering shrug pattern and owl cowl for the back of Juju Loops…let me know if they are still available..I am a physician about 1 hr north of NYC.
