Getting Ready for Autumn Knits

Getting Ready for Autumn Knits

Have you started to notice the first hints of knitting season yet? Those very subtle changes that herald the arrival of autumn, even though summer isn’t quite over?

It doesn’t take much persuading for us to start planning cosy knits, and after a sweltering London summer we can’t wait to embrace cooler temperatures in the months ahead. This week we’ve been fantasising about knits for chillier days. The only hard part is choosing what to cast on first!

Zosia Sweater by Coco Amour Knitwear

We absolutely adore the forthcoming Zosia Sweater by by Coco Amour Knitwear (AKA Cheryl Mokhtari). This piece is everything we want in a knit — cosy, soft, and super wearable. The pattern is engaging and fun but not overly complicated, and the result is just stunning. The Zosia Sweater pattern will be released in October (with testing starting soon, if that’s your thing!) but if you can’t wait that long, the lovely Zosia Cardigan pattern (pictured centre above) is already available to purchase on Ravelry. Keep an eye on @cocoamourknitwear for all the info! We would love to see this knit in CaMaRose Snefnug, which would give a lovely fuzzy halo, Gepard Woolia held with a lace weight Silk Mohair for a lighter feel, De Rerum Natura Gilliatt to make the colourwork super sharp, or Biches & Bûches Le Lambswool with a lace weight Silk Mohair.

The Wonderful World of Amuhibiknit

The Blooming Diamond Sweater and Found in the Forest Sweater by Amuhibiknit are wonderfully evocative and full of story. Blooming Diamond is a bold and beautiful design, meant to brighten even the darkest winter days. And Found in the Forest is a sweet and versitile piece. The shaping is the same in the front and the back, so it can be worn with either side facing forward. On one side, the pattern depicts the forest in the day, where a rabbit meets a butterfly. On the other side it’s the forest at night, where a fox looks into the sky at a star. A coordinating motif appears on the sleeves. Is there anything more charming?

Both of these patterns will be published in December, in Amuhibiknit’s forthcoming book Aran and Colorworks, which will be published in Japanese with an English translation booklet to follow. Preorders will start in September, and you can keep an eye on @amuhibiknit for more information. We think the Blooming Diamond would look fantastic in De Rerum Natura Gilliatt‘s saturated jewel tones, Quince and Co Owl‘s lovely pastels, or Daughter of a Shepherd Ram Jam‘s classic natural palette. Found in the Forest would work well in Biches & Bûches Le Lambswool, Gepard Woolia, or Rico Soft Merino Aran.

If you can’t wait until December to get one of Amuhibiknit’s patterns on your needles, the Candy Wrap Scarf is a perfect project to tide you over. Super graphic and soft, this piece will keep you warm and make you excited for more knits! The English version is available to purchase as a digital download on the amuhibiknit website. This would look great in Gepard Pura Lana, Gepard Woolia, or John Arbon Textiles Knit by Numbers DK. You could even use something fun like Rico Fashion Mohair Merino Chunky for the dots if you wanted to play with texture!

Rhi Rhi Knits Bonnets

How adorable are these bonnets by Rhi Rhi Knits? We cannot get enough of them. Kitty Bonnet, Bunny Bonnet, and Swan Bonnet have totally stolen our hearts, and we’re thrilled that there will be the addition of a Horse Bonnet in just a few weeks! These bonnets are great, achievable projects that you’ll want to show off as soon as you’re finished. Make one for all of your friends! CaMaRose Snefnug is our closest yarn to the original pattern yarn for these bonnets, but there are so many wonderful options for these beauties. John Arbon Textiles Knit by Numbers DK, Rico Soft Merino Aran, Mrs Moon Plump DK, or Gepard Pura Lana held with a lace weight Silk Mohair would all be wonderful.

Mona Sweater by Le Knit

The final knit we’re coveting for autumn is hot off the presses! The Mona Sweater by Le Knit (AKA Lene Holme Samsøe) was published yesterday, and what a beauty it is. Comfy yet feminine, we have a feeling this will be the sweater we’ll live in. There’s plenty of room to play around with colours as well, so let your imagination run free! This pattern calls for a thin strand of wool held together with a strand of silk mohair, and you’ll need a pair of yarns for each of the three colours in the pattern. We have a lovely range of Silk Mohair, and we think the Isager Silk Mohair and Gepard Kid Seta would work especially well here. For the wool, Isager Spinni, Biches & Bûches Le Petit Lambswool, Isager Highland Wool, and Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Light would all fit the bill.

Autumnal Palettes from Woolfolk and CaMaRose

The autumnal knitting vibe continues with new colours we’ve received this week in Woolfolk’s FÄR and TYND as well as CaMaRose Midnatssol. Our new Woolfolk colours include their Anniversary Red, a powerful and bright hue to celebrate 10 years of Woolfolk! The other colours are Cherry Blossom Pink, Chocolate Brown, and Burnt Orange. From CaMaRose, the new colours are Dark Bordeaux, fig, coffee, Dark Brick, and Dark Purple (pictured in this order from top to bottom above. We can’t wait to incorporate these beautiful tones into our knits!
