Happy New Year!
Happy 2014 to all you lovely knitters and crocheters out there! We had such a lovely time over Christmas, helping you choose projects to give as gifts, helping your loved ones choose presents for you, and generally revelling in the cold weather and festive vibe. We’re not too sad the holidays are over because there is so much to look forward to at Loop in 2014. There are new yarns (!), wonderful workshops and lots of fun to be had this year, and we wanted to share some of that excitement with you. So here is a round-up of our favourite things in 2014!
1. Juju’s Workshops
Juju Vail is our resident human knitting encyclopaedia and is teaching a range of amazing workshops this year at Loop! Fairisle, knitting Continental style, finishing techniques, Magic Loop, handwarmers and even inventing your own stitches are some of the things Juju will be teaching. Snap up a place on one of her classes quick to learn from a true knitting master.
2. Teaching Newbies How to Knit and Crochet
One of our favourite things in the world is bringing new people into the knitting and crochet fold. Is it your new year’s resolution to learn? Or maybe you have a friend who’s been itching to give it a go? 2014 can be the year it finally happens!
3. Brooklyn Tweed Winter ’14
When a new Brooklyn Tweed pattern collection comes out, it’s definitely the talk of the shop. We don’t yet have a preview, but the Winter 2014 patterns will be released soon! Keep an eye out for when these well-written, beautifully photographed and perfectly printed patterns arrive at Loop.
4. Squoosh Fiber Arts
The first of our new yarns for 2014 is the heavenly Squoosh Fiber Arts Merino Cashmere Lace! It’s a heavy laceweight or light fingering and a dream for shawls and wraps. This will be arriving very soon – we’re beside ourselves with excitement!
5. Skein Merino Cashmere Fingering
Yes, that’s right! Our favourite base yarn from Skein is coming back! In a couple of months, the Merino Cashmere Fingering will grace our shelves again in a range of 43 colours! Cosy, oh-so-soft and in Skein’s stunning colour palette, it’s certain to be a bright spot in the gloomy late winter months.
6. Koigu Lace
If Squoosh and Skein weren’t enough to keep your yarn appetites sated, in the next couple of weeks we’ll also be welcoming Koigu Lace! We go absolutely gaga over the 4-ply colours, so we’re over the moon to be stocking the laceweight too! Oh, the colourful possibilities…
7. Jane Crowfoot Crochet Workshops
Jane Crowfoot is a crochet guru with a number of books under her belt, including Homespun Vintage, above, and The Ultimate Crochet Bible. If you want to take the next step with your crochet skills in 2014, you need to take her improvers class!
8. And last, but certainly not least, we are looking forward to seeing all our lovely customers in the new year! Whether it’s at the shop, during Knit Night, or in our Ravelry forum, we can’t wait to see what you amazing, creative people get up to in 2014!
Happy New Year!
