Introducing: Shelter Marls by Brooklyn Tweed

Introducing: Shelter Marls by Brooklyn Tweed

What a season Brooklyn Tweed are treating us to! First the limited edition, and simply stunning range of lace weight Plains at the start of the summer, and this week are delighted to introduce you to three new colours of Shelter: the Marls. Since it’s launch this past Tuesday it’s been positively flying off our Loop shelves! But don’t you worry, we have another lot coming our way in two weeks time, so you won’t have to wait for very long.

Tactile and gorgeous! Shelter Marls in Newsprint

These three sophisticated neutral colours plied with natural white are true to the robust character of Shelter and would make even the simplest projects shine with dimensional tone. Less is more they say; the marl makes clean stockinette look magnificent and ribs radiate with depth.

If you get yours before 31st August, you will also receive a digital download of the Mawson beanie pattern, cleverly designed by Jared Flood, when you buy one or more skeins of the Marls, either in the shop or online. The pattern needs just one skein for the smaller size, and only two for the bigger, slouch size. We particularly love the slouchy version as it’s versatile and the ultimate modern beanie!

Giveaway time! We have one skein of this tonal beauty to give away along with the pattern for the Mawson beanie. Brooklyn Tweed are known for their modern and stylish designs, so we’d love to hear which colour beanie you’d wear and how you’d style it. Leave your answer in the comments below to enter this giveaway, we can’t wait to hear all of your ideas! Get your entries in before midnight on Wednesday 3rd August.

Happy knitting!

  1. It would definitely have to be Narwhal for me. I love grey because it’s so versatile and you can add a pop of pretty much any colour to accessorise. The brighter the pop, the better!

  2. I’d keep it simple with the slouchy hat in Narwhal as it goes with my winter coat. I would be tempted to get the second skein in faded quilt or flannel and make a stripy version.

  3. Lovely wool! I’d get newsprint, knit a beanie and I’d wear it with all black and my trusty Doc Martens!!!

Thanks for the chance to win.

  4. I like Narwhal – soft against my white-blond hair. I would hang it on the hall stand to share with family and visiting friends when we walk on the local beach. Styling optional!

  5. I would pick newsprint, love the high contrast! I would style my fitted beanie in the ultimate fall look: with a woven shirt, cropped leather jacket and tall leather brown boots. Can’t wait to see this yarn in person!

  6. I’d wear a slouchy…in newsprint with a linen black and white scarf tucked in underneath with the edge showing. Black jumper and jeans and my ankle boots to complete the picture.

  7. Ooooh- I’d love to knit and wear a beanie in Caribou, I think it would look great through Autumn with a Mustard sweater and through Winter with a Navy Peacoat and Boots. <3

Thanks for running such a lovely giveaway!

  8. I would love to knit a beanie in Narwhal and I would style it with my favourite grey winter coat, predictable but so cosy.

  9. If I had to chose just one, it would be newsprint. I would knit the slouchy version so I wear it brim down or up. It would look great with my black jackets and jeans!

  10. I would love to mix the narwhal color with the tartan color to make the cute Bernie to pair with my aquamarine winter coat, Fluevog boots and broken in to perfection black leather gloves. Thanks for hosting this great yarn giveaway.

  11. Newsprint for me, I’d knit a lovely bright purple flower to attach to the hat. This would make it original. Looking forward to seeing you lovely Loop people on the yarn crawl.

  12. I would knit a beanie in newsprint…wear it in the fall with my grey/black/white mini jumper, black tights and frye boots!

  13. ooh, i just can’t choose between narwhal or newsprint – but i’d happily wear either knit up into a beanie styled with handknit layers and a simple handmade dress in a natural fibre (that i’ll make for myself, someday soon!) x

  14. It would have to be the Newsprint slouchy beanie with black tights, stripey dress, leather jacket and ankle boots

  15. I’d go for Newsprint and make the hat for my husband to wear with his cosy checked black and white shirt when autumn rolls round.

  16. I’d love to do a striped hat with narwhal and newsprint because I am completely and totally obsessed with stripes right now. Narwhal is simply the yummiest neutral and I’d love a chance to win a skein. Thank you!

  17. I would love CARIBOU because I am fascinated by the name!A big wooll.y scarf would go with all my winter woolies

  18. I love the caribou. The name reminds me of the Caribbean island caricou I visited. I’d make a beanie hat. Wear it dog walking and recall hotter times.

  19. I’d love to knit the Slouch hat in Newsprint. I would also attach some brightly coloured buttons to the rib band. Cosy and eye catching.

  20. I would knit a beanie with caribou- love the name and the colour- and style it with a sweater, dark jeans and my hunter boots for fall!

  21. It’s a difficult choice…I think it would have to be Narwhal, and the longer version of that pattern. Love, love, love this yarn!

  22. A beanie in newsprint will go really well with my new red lipstick to brighten up winter days. Can’t believe I’m looking forward to winter clothes already!!

  23. Beautiful natural colours. This will be the perfect addition to a capsule wardrobe. I’m heading to London today and hope to get in time so I can stop by the shop and get some essentials. See you soon!

  24. It would have to be a Narwhal beanie with my knee length black wool vest, white sweater and black leather flats. Did I forget to put on a pair of black leggings too?!? :)
Doesn’t matter about the leggings. Everyone will be looking at the beanie!

  25. I’d choose Narwhal and make a hat for my son-in-law. He and my daughter are expecting their first child and they are all about grey.
