Koigu – A Kaleidoscope of Colour!
Koigu means colour and lots of it! A finely spun pure merino yarn that has been used at Loop to create some of our favourite projects – we can’t get enough of their speckled and striped skeins! Especially their new shades for summer 2014…

Each small batch is hand painted to create a unique colour. Founder Maie Landra says that “the perfect dye lot must be alive with highlights and depth, not dead and lifeless” and you can certainly agree with her when you see some of the new fluorescent shades that we now have!

However, don’t be daunted if you are not one for bright colours. There are some beautiful neutrals and earth tones which create a subtle speckled fabric when knitted.

The Babette Blanket by Kathryn Merrick is a much loved sample in the shopwhich features Koigu (plus a range of other 4plys) and is perfect for using up all those odds and ends. Our sample uses a fantastic jelly bean palette, but with the softer colours shown above how stunning would a ‘grown up’ version look?
Variegated yarns can sometime be tricky to combine, but our free Ripple Scarf pattern allows you to indulge in the most kaleidoscopic shades to stripe together! The simple chevron is great for beginners who are confident with the basics and want to try some basic shaping practice.

Or if there is just one of the new collection that you are set on, Barb’s Koigu Ruffle allows you to show off those hand painted colour changes! Just two skeins are required for this simple little project that is so lovely as a gift, either made or as a project for a fellow knitter. We think the redcurrant and gooseberry shade below would be wonderful!

And for the little ones, don’t forget our sweet chevron cardigan ‘Sprinkle’ from our book Juju’s Loops. Designed for those knitters who don’t want their colour choices to be limited when knitting for a new baby, you can pair one of the solid KPM for the yoke with two of the multi tonal KPPPM to provide a sprinkle of colour! In fact, many of the combinations we’ve arranged for this blog post should give you some ideas…

So enjoy the inpsiring colours from Koigu – we can’t wait to see what combinations you come up with.
Happy Knitting and Crocheting!
Oooh what scrumptious yarns!
Every week a new temptation.
Beautiful!
love it, so pretty!
Is it possible to add a photo of the new KPM 5210, it doesn’t have one at present and I’m slightly obsessed with wondering whether I need it!?
