Launching into Spring with a Million Flowers

Happy Friday! We’ll cut straight to the point: Dee Hardwicke’s latest pattern “Millefleur Petite Poncho” launches today and we are giddy with glee!
You all know what huge fans we are of everything Dee does. Her unique approach to textile design and the omnipresence of the natural world in her work make her designs really joyful to knit and to wear. Millefleur is no exception. This poncho wraps you in an abundant meadow of tiny blossoms, and the lovely drape gives the impression of petals swaying in the breeze.

When it comes to versatility, this poncho takes the cake. It’s airy enough to act as a light just-in-case layer on a summer evening and close-fitting enough to be worn as a cowl under a winter jacket. For all the months in between, it wears beautifully over long-sleeve tees or other knits.

The Millefleur Petite Poncho is knit from the bottom up in the round using stranded colourwork. This is one of those repeating patterns that becomes soothing and intuitive as it evolves. Dee designed Millefleur using gorgeous La Bien Aimée Merino Singles, a super soft 100% merino yarn with a lovely twist, incredible sheen, and neat stitch definition. Truly a wonderful base from one of our favourite dye studios.

Dee used the colours “Caramel” and “Bois de Rose” for her pink sample, so we got straight to work making up some Millefleur Petite Poncho Kits (currently on preorder, ready to ship around mid-April) in that colourway. However, as Dee herself says, her patterns are intended to be a “springboard” for the knitter’s creativity and she encourages you to get creative with colour. If there’s another combo that strikes your fancy, dive in! We have tons of colours of LBA Merino Singles and more stock on the way!

Our Millefleur Petite Poncho Kits contain all the yarn you’ll need to make your petite poncho, plus a Loop cotton bag. Whether you want to use the kit or choose your own colours, the pattern can be purchased directly from Dee on Ravelry or Etsy. As a super special treat for the Millefleur launch, Dee is offering 20% off all her patterns across both Ravelry and Etsy (no code needed!), so now is the perfect time to pick up your favourite of Dee’s designs!
