Life in the Long Grass- New Linen Merino Singles for spring and summer

Life in the Long Grass- New Linen Merino Singles for spring and summer

Spring has well and truly sprung in London, and we are turning our thoughts to soft and joyous colour and lighter weight fabrics to knit.

Life in the Long Grass

Some gorgeous new colours of Life in the Long Grass from left; Podzolic, Green Oakmoss, Druid, Firefly, Oir.

This week we have received some new fingering weight yarn ideal for spring items like shawls, cowls and lightweight tops. Life in the Long Grass in Linen Merino Singles is a gorgeous lightweight blend of linen and merino wool in a single ply. Like other LITLG bases, it comes in Caroline’s beautiful hand-dyed colour palette inspired by the Irish landscape’s rugged beauty.

The linen content gives this yarn a beautiful drape and natural effect when knitted.

We have some new colours in the Linen Merino and the Fine Sock base in Podzolic, Soft Day, Druid, Oir, Green Oakmoss and Firefly. The Fine Sock base is used for the Seascape Shawl crocheted shawl kit we’ve put together from Laine’s 52 Weeks of Shawls book. We think the Linen Merino singles would work beautifully as well or use it for a drapey summery sweater like Caitlin Hunter’s Misurina Sweater or Tamy Gore’s Ashbrook Shawl.

We have more LITLG Linen Merino Singles arriving next week so don’t be discouraged if a colour you love has gone. There will also be more of the Merino Sport and Fine Sock bases coming.

Making No 11 / DAWN

Today also sees the launch of Making Magazine’s 11th Issue; Dawn. We are always excited to receive this bi-annual magazine full of beautiful projects. This issue has over 20 projects and tutorials using sewing, embroidery, weaving, and knitting and crochet skills.

There is so much inspiration in this issue! We also have some wonderful embroidery threads, hoops, needles and scissors for some of the sewing and embroidery projects in this issue.

As always, if you see a project you love but would like some help substituting any of the yarns or picking out other supplies, we are always willing to help you find that perfect yarn and haberdashery tool or thread. Just send us an email or give us a ring!
