Lindsay Degen’s Two and Six of Daisies Land at Loop!
The wait is over! Bright, brilliant daisies are marching into Loop in their twos and sixes and we couldn’t be more delighted with the colourful explosion in the shop.
From 10am this morning, all things Degen Daisy will be available to purchase from the shop, and boy are we looking forward to welcoming Lindsay to Loop today to meet all our wonderful customers and talk more about her design. These bold daisies inspired by a motif Lindsay saw in a quilt are just to die for. Both the Six of Daisies Cardigan and Two of Daisies Scarflette are big, bright, graphic statements that are just a total joy to help bring into the world. The playful way the main colour and the contrast colour trade places between sides of the scarflette keeps this knit super interesting and the visual effect is stunning once you’re done.
We love these patterns so much we’ve assembled a real parade of our favourite yarns into kits to make it uber easy for you to get from falling in love with this pattern to showing it off. First up we have two options for the Six of Daisies Cardigan Kit, both of which use super lovely Snefnug by CaMaRose. The brown and green version uses Original Snefnug and the very special black and white version uses all organic, undyed Snefnug Natur. This yarn is really wonderful to work with and maintains the highest standards of animal and environmental welfare, in addition to just being super cosy.
We’re so in love with our six different colour options for the Two of Daisies Kits we just had to name them after some of the loveliest knitters around — who of course tend to prefer some of our most fabulous yarns, too. Whether you choose by your favourite colour or your favourite yarn, you can’t go wrong here.
The original brown and yellow version, naturally named after Lindsay, uses Ito Sensai held together with Jamieson’s Spindrift for the yellow and Daughter of a Shepherd Ram Jam Sport for the brown. Long-time Loopette Carole is the namesake of the fuscia and ballet pink version that uses Uncommon Thread Light DK and (Vi)laines Silk Mohair Boulette held with Jamieson’s Spindrift. And our very own founder Susan’s light pink and blue version uses The Uncommon Thread BFL Light DK and two La Bien Aimée yarns held together: Mohair Silk in and Merino Singles.
Rhona’s green and yellow scarflette uses Life in the Long Grass Sport to contrast Zakami Fluffy Lace held with Jamieson’s Spindrift. Lilith’s super sweet yellow and pink version uses two different colours of Old Maiden Aunt Alpaca Silk. And Arielle’s wine and roses hues are made up of Old Maiden Aunt Alpaca Silk and The Border Mill North Coast Tweed held with CaMaRose Midnatssol. We could write multiple blog posts about how fabulous each of these yarns is (just take a look at our archive!) but suffice it to say, this is the crème de la crème of special yarns on the market today.
If you’ve got your own very special colour combo in mind, both Two of Daisies and Six of Daisies patterns are available to purchase on their own. Having a look at the yarns used in our kits — and especially getting a sense of which ones are held single and which are held together — is a great starting point to begin thinking about what you might use. We love how many different yarns are suited to both the Cardigan and the Scarflette. The options are really endless!
Of course it wouldn’t be a Loop launch without a very special project bag designed just for the occasion. Our Two of Daisies Project Bag features the iconic daisy motif and is the perfect thing to keep all the bits of your Daisy knit in one place. The Two of Daisies Project Bag is included in all shawlette and cardigan kits, and it’s also available to purchase on its own (perfect if you want to pick out your own colours but still let everyone know just what you’re knitting!)
We really hope you can join us in the shop this weekend for our Meet & Greet with Lindsay Degen. Lindsay will be in the shop to say hello, talk about her design, and help you choose colours from 3:30 to 5:00pm this afternoon (Friday 27 October) and from 1:30 to 3pm tomorrow (Saturday 28 October). See you in the shop!
Fundraiser for World Central Kitchen and International Rescue Committee
This weekend we are donating 10% of all our profits in the shop and online, split between International Rescue Committee and World Central Kitchen. These organisations do so much good around the world to help people in times of hardship, whether they’re affected by natural or manmade disasters. You can also donate to Loop’s fundraiser directly on Instagram, though you will only be able to do so using Instagram’s mobile app. Please join us in supporting the wonderful people providing so much comfort and safety to those in need.
Don’t forget this Sunday we have a free Knitting SOS session! Stop by the shop from 10:30 to 12:00 this Sunday 29 October for help with your WIP woes from the lovely Loopettes. No need to book, just drop us a line if you need help with an especially tough issue or technique like Baltic braids or brioche. We also have sessions on 19 November and 10 December.
Hope to see you in the shop this weekend!
