Loop’s Christmas Wish Lists
It’s the return of one of our favourite Loop traditions! Each year we ask our lovely staff at Loop what they would like to find in their stocking Christmas morning, and they are just as delightful as they are full of great gift ideas.
First up are our sweet Yorkshire gals, Bronte and Iesha.
Bronte says “On my christmas wish list is a sweaters worth of Shilasdair Luxury 4ply to make the Vellamo sweater from Pom Pom Issue 18! I’d choose the colours Blackberry and Uig Sea Green for the main and Tansy Gold as the accent colour. The pattern goes so well with the yarn and I’m rarely seen without a stripy top on so it’s a perfect pattern for me!”
Iesha would love a big scarf’s worth of wonderful Woolstok in red rock to knit the Endless Wrap by Blue Sky Fibres.
The lovely Christiana wishes for 6 skeins of Madelinetosh Merino DK in Heartbeat to make the Sous-Sous sweater, a classic pattern designed by Norah Gaughan for Loop. We’ve got more boxes of Madelinetosh making their way across the ocean to us as we speak, including Merino DK.
Emma, who always has a sock on the go (or even better, both at once), would like a copy of Estonian Knitting, along with any colours of The Uncommon Thread Tough Sock “to continue my sock addiction”, Squoosh in Winterfell to make the Josephine Shawl, and enough BT ‘Plains‘ in ‘Treehouse’ or Semilla Lace ‘139/Pine’ to make a Hap Shawl.
Talented designer and endless source of knowledge Jane, who’s favourite corner of the shop is next to the Jamieson’s cabinet would like a basketful of Spindrift, and “if I’m being greedy, a bundle of the gorgeous new Little Grey Sheep Hampshire yarn. Both of these hearty, woolly yarns really appeal to my sense of place and care for the environment in which they are created.” We couldn’t have said it better, Jane.
Juliet says she’s generally a big fan of the “less is more” approach – except when it comes to knitting! “I’ve been coveting the small Chiaogoo set of interchangeable circular needles so I always have the right size needles at hand.”
Our Loop lad Colin would like a sweater’s worth of Arbor in one of the deep, rich tones. Making the most of its impeccable stitch definition, Colin would turn his Arbor into a gorgeous cable knit design.
And more Brooklyn Tweed comes to the wish list from Ellinor who would love a full sweater’s worth of Loft for a jumper design that’s just begging to be knit in Fossil, and preferably a copy of The Modern Natural Dyer “for those days when that perfect colour you’re looking for just doesn’t seem to exist!”
Our stylish Camille will be leaving us soon, to do an artist residency in Mexico next year, and we’ll be very sad to see her go. For her wish list, Camille has picked the gorgeous book Natural Color by Sasha Duerr to help her utilise her dye garden during her residency. We wish you all the best of luck in Mexico, Camille!
And finally, a word from our owner extraordinaire, Susan:
“Well, I have the whole shop as my disposal so this is a tricky one! I would have to say anything made by Sophie Digard. Her exquisitely embroidered and crocheted wraps and necklaces just make me happy. So much work and love goes into each piece and it is a treat to see other people’s handiwork. It always takes all my willpower when we are unwrapping them not to keep them for myself or a loved one!”
If you’re still stuck for ideas you can always get our Gift Vouchers of any value for your beloved knitters. Vouchers can be used for anything from yarn to classes, and can be redeemed both online and in store.
Now, speaking of gifts, let’s announce the winner of last week’s Stone Wool giveaway. The winner this week is @need_a_craft_room from Instagram – congratulations!
Until next week, happy knitting!

Hi Pat, I am not sure how you saw the bear pattern as that was a glitch that it was public at all. Later this morning we will release the Otso pattern for you! And there will also be a giveaway! xox Susan
