Lovely Classes, Kits, Haberdashery and More at Loop

Oh my it’s been such a whirlwind of a week celebrating the launch of our Two of Daisies and Six of Daisies patterns. We’re still buzzing from Lindsay Degen’s visit to the shop and we’re so glad to see some of you already posting your progress. Meanwhile, the excitement never stops in the shop and we have so many wonderful things arriving that we just can’t wait to share.

There are so many ways to make the super sweet Julie Arkell dolls your own.

We’ve added three new dates of our ever popular Julie Arkell Workshop for winter and spring 2024. These day-long adventures through Julie’s whimsical world are always a blast. Using sewing, knitting, and embroidery, each participant will customise their very own handmade papier-mache doll, made by Julie in advance, making a totally unique creature to take home. We’ll have some materials on hand for you to use, but this is also a fantastic opportunity to use some extra special bits from your stash that you’ve been saving for just the right moment. Our winter and spring workshops will run on 4 February, 7 April, and 19 May. These spots will go quickly! We’re also excited to have eight new Julie Arkell original creations in the shop from today. Each of these creatures has a fantastic story to tell and we love them all.

In addition Degen’s Daisies we have some really fantastic kits that make perfect winter attire. Brand new Blue Sky Fibers Brooklyn Scarf Crochet Kits have everything you need to make a fab maxi scarf that will keep you wrapped up and warm no matter what the season throws at you. And what a Christmas gift this would be! Whether you’re looking for a project to make for a loved one or want to give the kit to the maker in your life, this is the perfect thing. All you need to add is a crochet hook! We have two other favourite knit wrap kits back in stock, the Osaka Scarf Kit and the Crepe Myrtle Shawl Kit. Each of these fabulous wraps come in two colourways and they’re super versatile to wear — not to mention fun to knit! Each kit comes with everything you need to knit these beauties except the needles.

It doesn’t get much better than Kaliko Handmade Haberdashery pouches. Made specially for Loop with organic cotton and printed with a botanical motif, the simple elegance of these zipper pouches belies the super amount of care that goes into making each one. The fabric is hand dyed using low impact plant dyes before they’re sewn, and then each one is individually hand stamped with a stencil made from local plants in Berlin. These pouches are available in two motifs and four different colours. Get one of each and stuff stockings for the whole family with these beauties!

Amirisu Issue 27 launches today! This issue for Autumn/Winter 2023 features twelve divine knitwear patterns inspired by music as well as interviews and profiles of some of the most inspiring fibre artists working today. We love so many of the sweet designs in this issue, from frilly socks to dramatic bell sleeved sweaters these knits are seriously destined for the stage. Plus, the November/December issue of Selvedge is on our shelves and it is absolutely to die for. Themed around “Pioneers”, it focuses on the unsung heroes whose passion has preserved and pushed the boundaries of fibre arts the world over. From computer programmers to queens, the individuals working at the vanguard of textiles come in many shapes and sizes and they all deserve celebrating.

Sock Sets by Circus Tonic

Beyond all this loveliness we of course have restocked some of our all time favourite yarns and we have very exciting new sock bundles from Circus Tonic. These incredible yarns are hand-dyed in small batches and they’re all inspired by the flora and fauna of Australia. Our super special sets come in pairs of a regular skein and a mini skein, perfect for making socks with contrasting toes and heels that perfectly accent the main colour. These sets are limited edition and just for Loop, so scoop them up!

So many beauties have arrived from La Bien Aimée and Big Bad Wool, plus Le Coton & Alpaca from Biches & Bûches. We’re totally stocked up in LBA favourites like Merino Singles, Cashmerino, Kumo, and Corrie Worsted. If you’re not sure what to use this gorgeous yarn for, why not try our Tiny Tassels Shawlette, which we’ve made in both Cashmerino and Kumo! For any new additions to your holiday table this year, Big Bad Wool’s Weepaca is the perfect yarn for cuddly baby items. The sweet Baby Bear onesie by CocoKnits uses this yarn, and we’ve got a whole list of other pattern ideas. Le Coton & Alpaca first arrived on our shelves just over a year ago and we’ve been obsessed ever since. It’s a totally unique yarn that drapes a bit heavier than wool and has a super wonderful sheen.

But the pièce de résistance is our restock of Border Mill Tweed sets in both 50 colour and 21 colour box sets. These collections are almost unfathomably beautiful and perfect for colourwork. These 100% Shetland wool yarns spun in the Scottish Borders are the real deal and we feel so so lucky to have this special piece of British fibre culture in the shop.

Happy knitting!
