Lovely new things

Lovely new things

Though our shop doors are currently closed, we are alway busy finding wonderful things for you. This week’s post is a little round-up of some new treasures we have for you at Loop; yarns, haberdashery, books and classes.

Miesje Chafer pouches

We’ve had a delivery of more of these lovely haberdashery pouches for summer, with zingy colours to perk you up! These are a great size, perfect for storing small haberdashery items like stitch markers, darning needles and scissors.

Embroidery Magazine

The July/August issue of this gorgeous magazine was restocked last week, but it has flown out, so be sure to grab your copy! It features the work of Rosalind Wyatt, Jeanette Appleton, Molly Mahony and many more talented makers and craftspeople. Heather Evans Smith’s work is also featured in this issue, and we have just received copies of her beautiful self-published monograph of “Alterations“, that have been signed for us by Heather!

Au Ver A Soie

We’ve had a big delivery of these wonderful silk threads arrive, so we are fully stocked up on the Thread Packs, the Denim Silk Sets, the Black + White Silk Sets and the Metallic sets!

New Spincycle colours

We had a lovely delivery arrive from Spincycle last week, and we have expanded the range of colour we carry! On the Dream State base we have Midsommar and Lapis that have just arrived, and on the Dyed in the Wool base we have restocked popular colours Stay Out of the Forest, Devilish Grin and Summer Love.

Knitting Help online

New in at Loop London

We are now offering a fantastic online knitting help class via Zoom, with our resident teacher and sock guru Jane Lithgow. You’ll be able to learn something new and keep knitting with one-on-one help. Because of the way we have timed the teaching slots we hope people from outside the UK will be able to join in as well!

Well before your session we will be emailing you very clear information on how to log onto Zoom (it really is very easy!) as well as emailing you a questionnaire to help us make the most of your time.

Natural Palettes

This is a beautiful new hardback book on natural dyeing. Renowned natural dyer, artist, and educator Sasha Duerr envisions a new age of fresh, modern color palettes, drawing from our original source of inspiration and ingredients—the natural world around us.

This innovative plant-based color-guide includes twenty-five palettes with five hundred natural color swatches, providing inspiration for sustainable fashion, textiles, fine art, floral design, food, medicine, gardening, interior design, and other creative disciplines.

Selvedge Magazine

New in at Loop London
A beautiful still from the new issue of Selvedge

Issue 95 of Selvedge is filled with uplifting stories of women building better lives for their families through textiles endeavours in Guatemala and India. We also have a few copies of back issues available at the moment, so be sure to have a look.

Sajou

New in at Loop London

We have a new style of scissors, just arrived from Sajou in Paris! The popular Hare scissors we stock are now available in gold; the model is called Gilded Hare. This pair of scissors is a re-edition of a model that dates from the 19th century, and they make absolutely gorgeous gifts, to yourself or to a loved one!

Monahan ribbon

New in at Loop London

We have added a new design from Monahan to the collection we already stock. The Floral Dot ribbon is 100% cotton, 2 cm (3/4″) wide aged herringbone and is adorned with an original Monahan papers floral dot design based on antique French papers from the early 1800’s.

Viola yarn

Last but not least… We have received a new delivery from Viola! This gorgeous hand-dyed yarn is a firm favourite of the Loopettes, and it’s easy to see why!

The new delivery included new colours of the Merino Fingering base, which comes in 100g skeins, and a new colour way of the Sock Mini Bundles, called Silverbirch, which are 5 skeins of 20g each. These can of course be used for socks, but some of our Loopettes have used them for mittens and colour work yokes too!

So sorry that most of the Merino Fingering has flown out the door so quickly!

To get a peek into Emily’s world, the super talented dyer behind Viola, make sure you watch our Meet the Maker video about her! It can be viewed on our Youtube channel, or on our IGTV, but we have also put it down below for you to watch!

We hope you’re all doing well, and we miss having you all in the shop. We hope to have the doors of the London shop open again by the end of July. We will keep you up to date with information as much as possible. Happy knitting!
