Making Mosaics with Mimstermade and Enneste

Making Mosaics with Mimstermade and Enneste

We’re still basking in the glow of our incredible week with Nami Horikawa, Tomomi Mimura, and Naho Izumi, three incredible Japanese makers who shared their time and talents with some of you lovely Loop fans in a series of workshops and classes last week.

The creativity overflowed during our time together, and that energy didn’t end when the plane wheels left the tarmac at Heathrow thanks to some very special new fibres we gained from the visit. We’re thrilled to have in the shop a new yarn by Naho of Enneste that was inspired by Tomomi Mimura (aka Mimstermade).

Mimstermade with some of her cute creations.

Those of you who met Mimstermade or got one of her coveted kits will know that her style of mosaic embroidery is unlike anything else. Naho agreed, and decided that a unique style of embroidery deserved an equally unique yarn. Thus was born the vivid, hand-dyed Enneste for Mimstermade bundles.

These little cakes are so so special. They’re steam dyed four times for extra rich, super deep colour, and my oh my what colours they achieve. Some contain subtle variations on a single tone and others are really wild combinations of saturated gem tones and sophisticated neutrals. You’ll want to get your hands on these as they have to be seen to be believed.

Enneste for Mimstermade in all its beautiful variegations.

Though designed specifically for Mimstermade’s signature style of embroidery, Enneste for Mimstermade is equally at home as a fingering-weight yarn in knit and crochet projects. We’re fairly sure we’ll be using this for accents throughout our upcoming projects. I mean how could anyone resist!?

The sweet floral motifs on this mosaic bunny’s ears are just perfect.

It was so beautiful to see the way Nami, Tomomi, and Naho found inspiration in one another and how they inspired you all. Enneste for Mimstermade will be a treasured memento of the time we shared.
